I believe there is a lot more going on here than stress. You should check out the book Breath by James Nestor. I got a holistic type of orthodontics to treat severe bruxism, as well as sleep apnea that developed by the time I was in my early 30s (I’m 38). I am a low body fat, muscular person so I could not understand why I had developed sleep apnea. TLDR: most of our jaws have become severely underdeveloped over the last several hundred years, and conventional orthodontics (which I had as a teenager) make the problem even worse by making our mouths smaller and constricting our airways, leading to bruxism and sleep apnea. Skulls from 500 years ago and before have wider jaws and more developed chins that protruded out further than ours do now. No amount of stress would explain the severity of my condition before. I mean, I wasn’t THAT stressed out lol. I still have some issues, but they have improved by like 75-80%.
