yeah, totally agree. i think having high level, out of context arguments based on pejorative understandings of concepts and ideas isn't helpful. cherry-picking from history is also not very useful. i actually believe in finding a balance, depending on the specific issue, level of governance and context. for me, collectivism is simply about teamwork, community, mutual care and support, cooperation and solidarity. these do not preclude individual rights.
