Thank you for sharing. That sounds hard and sad, and I'm glad you found a way out!

I'm very glad my dad involved me when I went to him. At 3.5 years old, my brother looked up at the roof where my dad would go for different reasons and thought it looked a bit too scary, so he said he would go up there next year. A few moments later, my mom looks up and sees me, at 2 years of age, up on the roof, alone! šŸ˜… I don't think I got in trouble.

At 6, my dad brought me to preschool once but didn't do the "hugs and kisses" before taking off, so I got back on my bike and chased him on his bike all the way to where he was working at the time to get what I wanted.(it was only a few minutes away) Again, I doubt I got in trouble, I was simply told to not do that again.

I found out as an adult that my brother had had a different experience. The main difference was that I sought out our dad, and we went on bike trips together, and went kayaking, and at 16 I started building circuit boards for him (he develops electronics). Looking back, I realize that my dad didn't really speak me out to invite me on things, but I sought him out, while my brother didn't, and thus he didn't get to do as much, and missed having spent time with our dad.

I love that my husband is intentional with our son, and I often find myself just watching them instead of doing my own thing when clearly our son doesn't need my attention for a while šŸ˜…šŸ¤£

Yappy dogs are no fun! We watched a bunch of "the dog whisperer" (I think it's called) and learned that too many people treat their tame wolves as human babies, but the dog doesn't carry trauma, humans do, and if the human doesn't show they're in charge, their dog will pick up on that and become the pack leader, and get filled with anxiety and it's so sad, plus annoying with all the sound! My husband keeps saying he'd never allow that, if the dog doesn't learn directly, he'd get rid of it! And I'm inclined to agree.
