If the amish can survive without using tech, we have no excuse. Don't even have to seclude. There's so much money that can be used towards this that's currently wasted.
My city's main masjid runs a Muslim cemetary out in the nearby country. That being said, every part of it is subcontracted out. The entire funeral is managed by an American funeral home, down to the burial and operating the crane to lower the casket. They charge thousands of dollars for it. A rural compound could do this every now and then for much cheaper.
I went to a friends wedding in the middle of nowhere, am hour from any city. It was a farmhouse concept and the setting looked exactly like the new medinah compound. A single building to use as a venue could make good money even if they charge a fraction of the real venues.
Have a few cabins and you got vacation rentals.
This is on top of the obvious, which is farming, which would fetch a premium for being local AND halal.
The main thing is that it can't be owned entirely by a waqf that employs and rents to the people. Every building and business needs to be privately owned and managed, with an HOA agreement that collects the minimum necessary to run the masjid, and dictates that they can't sell to non-muslims.
