Screen captured this from a market screen above the auctioneer. That's nearly $400k total, but nearly $3k per head for an animal that if grass finished would probably need another year before butchering. 😳

For those that don't know, livestock and beef sold on the commodity market sells per hundredweight so that price of 324 is 3.24 per pound live weight. Whereas consumers buying directly from a farmer are likely buying hanging weight (carcass only)--head, hide, organs, lower leg removed.

Beef markets keep hitting record highs and national herd numbers are still showing declining numbers. 😬😬😬
