"The Westermarck effect is the psychological phenomenon where individuals raised in close proximity during early childhood (typically siblings) develop a natural, mutual sexual disinterest or aversion to each other, acting as an evolutionary mechanism to prevent inbreeding."
What is interesting about this effect is that it doesn't protect from inbreeding when kids aren't raised in close proximity. This explains why some lost siblings sometimes find each other and form a romantic relationship, not knowing they're actually siblings.
This effect is similar to the habituation that leads to a loss of attraction when in a long term marriage. So the more time you spend around the same person (i.e. your partner), the more likely you are to want to see what's out there and cheat.
Is god trolling? lmao
