Our sun just released a low grade X class flare (equivalent to a category 5 hurricane by scale), but the sunspot that was the source is just starting to turn in towards Earth so we should only see a glancing blow.
It should be an interesting week in solar activity as it starts to directly face Earth in the days ahead.
