Same here, my driving licence recently expired and I had all kinds of longness because they insisted on an app, which my vpn seemed to have broke (lol) and I had to go to the office in person with docs, all very tedious.
While the uk may have ‘scaled back’ the digital id scheme, it’s clear all the mechanics are in place and they can achieve the same objective with friction, it’ll just take a little longer.
