For the next version I definitely have to add a few more empires, if I can get the data.

Definitely missing more bronze age players: Minoans, Myceneans, Hittites, Indus Valley, Shang, Babylonian.

Also missing all the precolombian american: Aztez, Maya, Inca, Olmec.

...and the great african empires: Kush, Aksum, Ghana, Ethiopia, Mali.

Finally I should split the chinese dynasties better and include Ming, Qing as separate from modern China.

Korea and Japan probably deserve a spot.

That's 19 more! It would take us to 45.

If we add France, Portugal, Dutch... 48.

50 should definitely be a hard limit. Space is limited and we don't want it so crowded that it's illegible.
