When I brought clove cigarettes to Norway, they thought they tasted aweful, until I told them to lick their lips.
For those that don't know, clove cigarettes usually have sweetened filters. Also, sugar wasn't common there at the time (probably still expensive).
Their eyes lit up, "Mmmm! It's like candy! These are cigarettes for children!", and then everyone wanted one.
