The reason why retail traders get wiped out is investment is really boring and they want it to be fun. Looking at charts every day and pushing the button is fun. Drawing triangles is fun. Unfortunately frequent trading loses money and technical analysis is only good for refinement of when to dispose of or purchase assets intended for a long time horizon.
A rule of thumb is that if investment feels exciting you're going to lose, and if it feels boring as fuck it's probably good.
