i really hope that in 100 years, it will be just as common and just as serious to say "i believe in Free+Decentralized Software" as it is now to say "i believe in free speech"
people are starting to understand, but only partly or for the wrong reasons (privacy, microslop, cost, etc)
those are fine reasons, but the reason to support FOSS is above all that proprietary code means you are never free.
privacy focused users might use the proprietary FUTO keyboard or the centralized Signal messenger - and remain unfree
people who can't afford to upgrade their hardware to use the latest windows might switch to linux, but they will continue to use other proprietary/centralized software - and remain unfree
some will even use a majority of Free+Decentralized Software but use proprietary and centralized software like Discord, Twitter(X), Facebook, etc "because that's where the majority of people/my family/friends are" - and EVERYONE remains unfree, as a direct result of their contribution to the network effect
