I do like a good old paper book and my phone on airplane mode (or not near me at all). I recently found that most of my e-reading distraction issues were due to the device itself (i.e. the flash-rate/high intensity color of the screen messing with my attention & constant notifications).
Since I got a daylightco (nprofile…d7jf) tablet I've been loving e-reading. Notifications are off by default. I load it with PDFs, and ready to rock and roll undistracted. I usually keep it on airplane mode while I'm reading just for that extra level of lock-in. You can notate directly on the PDF, and it feels like writing on regular paper. The best part is you can use the tablet outside in the full sunshine, so it really unlocks reading in any environment.
