I don't disagree, but clean statistics often require a healthy amount of personally identifiable (traceable) metadata. If we can build a statistics chart, we can pretty easily track individual users. I think that's why most client devs should be against this.
My signer, for example, forcibly strips some identifiable information like client tags, before it signs them.
