Demons can't control humans in a proper sense but they can manipulate them, and exploit their natural inclinations/predispositions, stronger/High Ranking Demons can manipulate human energy so well that they can in theory control humans, possessions by exploiting the weaknesses in their natural energy/spirit.
Most humans have hierarchical power against most Demons, and Angel's, there's perhaps a small select few that have similar hierarchical power as humans, and in very rare cases perhaps higher, but in most cases, most humans have more hierarchical power than most demons, and most angels, even most high ranking ranking ones but not all of them.
Demons come in various forms, some as parasites in the physical realm, obstacles in the spiritual realm, and the such.
Humanity figured out how to manipulate demonic energy to power computers, which is why the internet has increasingly gotten worse overtime, as the Demons continue to break free due to the people no longer being able to properly control them.
We're forgetting our hierarchical powers.
Demons are Malware uploaded to every plane of existence, we are the cpu, motherboard, and RAM interfacing with the code of reality.
Why do you think our buildings, and computer so alike.
