When was the goal not giving users I choice, I don't know why you imply that.
NIP-85 looks unsustainable for WoT, there are simply too many events to produce and store. I also haven't been convinced it's easier for my users. I am not going to confuse them by sending them to sign up to a different website or make them wait more than a few seconds to get trust metrics, it simply won't happen.
Gzuus is running a ContextVM service for relatr, I think giving users a default API and ways to change it (like we do with relays) is best.
