I mean that I want to learn and explore interesting things and try things that nobody has ever done before. If the retard is doing it for me and I can learn from him instead then I can just learn from him instead of going through all the effort myself. If I've seen lots of people doing something and I've witnessed the consequences then there's less novelty. If someone you know already explored somewhere then visiting that place makes you a tourist, and not an explorer anymore.

Maybe I'll try to stand on top of their shoulders and add a unique twist. Or maybe I'll do something else. Otherwise there are ways that I could be legitimately getting in that person's way by continuing to pursue something that they have made better progress at. Is there something wrong with acting on one's ego? Because I see nothing wrong with my position. I genuinely don't even know what the word "ego" means anymore.
