I think the notion of signature is fine. When i say ''look at the JSON'' i dont mean going into all the asymetric and hashing crypto, i mean that they understand its just like a letter with a name, a date and a signature etc. ; that those things are the unit of the Nostr ecosystem, and that that is why you can use various apps to interface with those units, instead of things being tied to place (platform), or time for that matter.

Perhaps you are not aware how ingrained the platform paradigm is into the normie, they have to be actively un-taught that way of thinking/looking at the world, which was the innitial point of my post (clients being tools, not services). There is this popular notion of ''getting to a point where people are not aware they use Nostr'', and i sort of get it, but ultimately disagree is that means people keep that old platform paradigm in their heads; i think they need to be actively made aware that in fact this is a different paradigm. And when they are, things will make a lot more sense, and we dont have work ourselves into weird corners trying to fit the square Nostr block into the round platform UX hole.

Sitting next to a person, walking them through things, and in some point in that process showing them the JSON, and pointing out the author, date etc bits does not at all seem as some insurmountable task. And after 5 minutes you move on and they never have to look at a JSON in their lives again.
