I'm settling into the idea that my emotional experiences are not so completely different from other people's—the way I often felt as a child—but that I experience emotion at a higher *intensity* than a lot of other people.
That can still be very painful, but it's not nearly as isolating as when I used to feel so very alien.
These days I'm a little more conscious of the ways my emotional experience can connect me to other people & a little less fearful that it will isolate me.
