The fork is a solution to a problem created by malicious/compromised devs. Up until now this was only a theoretical scenario. People were largely convinced that devs can’t change bitcoin because of the way the system works. This was proven untrue with the release of Core v30. This fork is the manifestation of the natural immune system of Bitcoin we all instinctively knew it would be triggered in the case of attack. The success of the fork will reinforce the notion that Bitcoin’s immune system is working as intended and the network remains anti-fragile. If it fails, it will prove what many bitcoin critics have claimed over the years: that the lead dev team is a single point of failure. To me this is a huge cause for concern and I assume it could be the same for many other large holders of Bitcoin.
