I’m talking about relay of transactions, which isn’t synonymous (or doesn’t have to be synonymous) with long-term entry into local mempool…payment for long term storage goes out of band to miners…
But your discussion makes me wonder if every non-mining relaying node should charge for non-standard transaction relay services…I haven’t thought about that before…
