The TV show Leverage:Redemption had an episode (“The Hustler Job”) which dealt with this exact thing - scammers impersonating loved ones to get money, because what’s more authentic than a live video of that person in trouble? That ep aired in April 2025.

This is an example of how easy it’s gotten to deepfake.

Let folks who might fall for this scam know what could happen and help them establish protocols/safe words/whatever will help keep them and their money safe from the vultures.
