Pondering on this more you make a good case. If Bitcoin is going to fizzle out due to ossification, regulatory capture, etc. Etc. Then these Bitmain sha256 miners would be rendered paperweights except in the case that another sha256 steps up to resolve the issues.
Maybe that's Bitcoin Cash, I just wish it were a privacy by default network. But it's inevitable the money will flow into something sha256.
