I agree profit motives can push firms toward bad behavior, but a lot of the worst outcomes people blame on “capitalism” only happen because centralized state power can be captured and used to override local interests. When decisions are made far from the communities affected, it becomes cheap and profitable to influence regulators, secure special privileges, or push through harmful projects. That’s a failure of governance structure, not markets by themselves. A more locally anchored, stakeholder-driven system makes capture harder and aligns decisions with the people who actually live with the consequences.
