Yea, it does seem to be the double edged sword of following hashtags. Even before the bots I've always noticed many hashtags are just full of low quality posts by people engagement farming (for whatever reason). I'm getting sort of prone to just have hashtags on a list I go through when I'm feeling patient to find people to follow in, rather than including the whole tag.

The solution is probably to create a norm of using PoW for hashtagged posts, and then filter out those without it. It's not a surefire filter as bots CAN use PoW, but it does mean if they're doing so that their ability to do other things is reduced.
