Neither was I! I was thinking of self-hosting with Forgejo, and I still might as an alternative, so Codeberg makes sense. It's a German non-profit hosting Forgejo for open-source software. I didn't want GitHub, GitLab didn't seem like the answer either. As a user for a day so far, I'm happy with it! Haha.
A few apps I've used are on it, which is cool.
