Didn't do much exchanging or thinking of rates.
I worked and had an irish bank account where I earned and spent euros and then barely had any activity in my american bank account with dollars in it.
I'd think about the exchange rate occassionally if I needed to wire money between the accounts (and very angry looking at those fees) but for the most part I just kinda had a different money for a different country.
