Has anyone else noticed how many pet food commercials are advertising new luxury pet food made with things other than grain and kibble?
Its all the rage now! Pet food that costs as much as people food. And “made with real ingredients”.
On the other hand, fast food commercials are faster, more often, and very visceral - just one or two second close-ups of people biting into processed food in this weird ecstatic way.
Just seems …I dunno, interesting.

Yesterday I went to a local bookstore and taught some folks how to make paracord keychains with carabiners on them.
I provided all the materials so it was a good free experience for people to learn a new creative skill.
In a few weeks I’m going to teach a class on making paper plants. I’ll be providing all the materials for that too, so all you’d need to participate is an interest in being creative.
Another time I’m gonna teach a drawing class.
The bookstore has no problem with this since there’s no money involved. These folks would never have had the money to sign up for a class on making crafty stuff.
In my opinion, Freedom Tech isn’t just about digital technology, it’s about removing fiat barriers to learning skills.

Agreed - there are quite a bit more people here now, and definitely a lot of various specialties.
Im not a dev, but I’m an artist and I know a bit about watches, but im happy to answer questions related to stuff i know about.
When i started out several npubs ago, I remember just having a random art contest and awarding a couple thousand sats to the winners, wanting to contribute to the overall vibe of DIY-ness here.
Now that I’ve signed up for a paid relay, I can literally see Nostr developing and growing like everyone predicted it would. Its pretty rad that it’s catching on so organically.

However, there’s no help desk in other social media either.

It’s been a little while since i signed up for a paid relay and tried curating the relays that I am using, and have been pleasantly surprised with the results.
Its a big ask for newcomers to sign up for what’s basically five bucks a month for quality connections instead of an impenetrable flood of crap with the default relays.
That’s how it goes with traditional social media, though in a different way. There, you pay for the privilege of having your posts seen instead of lost in a rushing river of influencer followers.
I abandoned traditional social media before it got that way, so that’s just what I’ve heard.
Here, you pay not to see the same useless crap and nsfw stuff popping up.
All that said, five bucks a month isn’t too bad, and Nostr doesn’t ask for a retinal scan and a blood sample.
Your identity is still yours, and you get immediate results in your feed.

That said, there are things that everyone ought to agree on.
Classical music, Japanese flute, the sound of rain, etc. those can all be calming and helpful for creativity.
