I still have the fold app and my debit card has $2 on it from 2023. 😂 I still spin daily though. 💪🏽
I wasn’t a fan of having to spend $100 a year just to use a debit card that I was loading with money.
Also, can you pay car payments, mortgage, etc. with it? Those types of payments usually require a bank account.
Again, I haven’t use it for 3 years so I may not be up to speed.

Unfortunately I don’t have any ceiling fans in my living room. I have thought about buying a duct fan that attaches to the miner to help push the air farther into the house. I would need one anyways if I was to hook up to the HVAC. It’s maybe worth a shot.

My first mining issue:
My Avalon Q was set up in my dining room and blowing heat into my living room. The entire kitchen, living room, and dining room were comfortably warm. However, if the doors weren’t open to the rooms upstairs, they would get to about 65 F at night while the thermostat said the house was at 73. This caused problems for my wife and my children.
I have to figure out how to hook up this miner to my HVAC so that the heat blows out evenly across the house. Right now I have it outside and it’s driving me crazy that I’m wasting the heat.

I had the distinct pleasure of getting laid off in July of 2025.For 6 months, I was out of work.
Those 6 months were the best days of my life. I spent more time with my kids than I have their entire lives.
I also spent more time on me than I have in my entire adult life. I also spent more time with God than I have in my entire life.
That was the closest to freedom I have ever been in my life. I miss it with all of my heart. I am doing everything in my power to get back to that.

For anyone new to Bitcoin that started buying at 120k and have been watching their fiat value decrease like crazy:

2EH have left the Braiins pool since December 4th, 2025.
To put that into a real life scenario:
- 2 million Bitaxe 1TH miners
- 20,000 Avalon Q 90TH miners
That’s just the Braiins pool.
IMO, home mining plays a significant role in overall hash stability. My miners are providing revenue and heat which leads to cost avoidance.
Generation of heat for my home = BTC reward, heat for my home, and cost avoidance for my HVAC and electrical usage.

It has surpassed my expectations! You can feel the heat throughout the upstairs which is around 1500sq feet.

Wow! I have to ask what your electricity rates are. That’s wild and I understand why you shut them down. My energy rates are based on peak and off-peak schedule. $.17/kWh 12hrs/day and $.04/kWh12hrs/day. Weekends and holidays run $.04 24hrs.
If I ran them 24hrs regardless of price, it would equate to roughly $.09/kWh which still isn’t bad.
Right now I have it running 24hrs with how cold it is outside. I’m actually amazed at how well it’s heating the entire upstairs floor. The back rooms will get chilly with the doors closed, but I’m working on that.

On normal fan settings 60%, it’s about 40-50.
I have the fan ripping 90%-100% so it’s a little bit higher.
It can be running 100% and nobody notices in the living room. Not loud by any means.
Trust me, my wife would say something if it was. 😂

We are ripping 91-94TH as we speak! So easy to set up. Maybe10 minutes tops.
It pushes out quite a bit of heat. I purchased the @nprofile…nsn9 exhaust shroud as well to help push the heat out. It’s in my dining room area (on 20amp circuit) pushing air towards the living room. I can feel the heat already.
Will let her run overnight and see what the temp feels like in the morning. So pumped right now.

I speak about Bitcoin with my family any chance I get. Just little things have added up.
- When my kids were learning to speak, I try to get them to say Bitcoin.
- When they are learning to spell, I ask them to spell Bitcoin.
- When we inevitably speak about the price of food, toys, games, vacation, cloths and why we can or cannot get something, I tell them how Bitcoin fixes the problem.
I literally toss in plugs any chance I get. The older they have gotten, the more they will roll their eyes, but I will never stop speaking about it.
My son is more curious than annoyed. Unlike my daughter. 😂 But they all know what it is. 🫡

My 6 year old son got $120 for Xmas (very late Xmas with family). I asked if he wanted to save any of it in Bitcoin.
He decided to save $80 of it and spend the rest on games. I didn’t convince him, I only gave him facts that he needed to know about his savings. I let him exchange his $$ into bitcoin and send it to his personal wallet on my phone that he can check on whenever he wants with me.
He doesn’t know this, but I’m going to match whatever he decides to save until he turns 18.
Very proud of him.

Ours is about .09/Kwh so beneficial on that side.
I also have pricing that I worked out with electrical company where it’s .04/kwh at night and .17 during peak hours.
All in, it averages to .09/kWh though.

It’s a real problem. I started with a Bitaxe pushing 1TH, then I bought a Nano 3S, then bought a bitaxe for a family member and figured “Might as well get one for me.” now I just smash bought a 90TH Q.
Not sure where you live, but I plan to offset the electricity by heating the house (if it pushes the heat I think it does). Should help keep my gas bill lower. Will find out and keep everyone posted.

After staring at the checkout button for 10 minutes (not an exaggeration), I decided to invest in new mining equipment.
Right now, it’s a big investment for me and my family. It’s out of my comfort zone, but I’m not a fan of comfort.
I believe in Bitcoin with all of my being and it’s the first thing in my life (outside of Jesus) that I have truly enjoyed learning about. There are so many opportunities that it supports.
I intend to use it to help heat my house, offsetting my gas and electricity used for my hvac while it’s still cold out. I will share all of my experiences on Nostr to help anyone else that is looking for real world use cases for home mining.

Something I’ve noticed since my wife and I started working full time again - We don’t exercise, read, talk to each other, talk to our kids, etc. nearly as much as we once did (if at all). We have very limited time for anything that we enjoy personally. When we lay our heads down at night, we are exhausted from being at 100% energy levels all day. We are numb and our brains are foggy.
This isn’t me complaining. These are my observations since we both had time off from FT work.
Seeing what retirement may look like (during my 6 month vacation) for us, made me realize how much they have genuinely stolen from us.
