Millennials were born into a world of info sources curated by centralized systems of power (books, encyclopedias, big 3 news stations, etc).
The internet shattered those structures of curated info at the exact moment we learned to think for ourselves. We were told “you can’t trust the internet,” but we knew better. We became our own judge of credibility and value.
But we may be sliding back into the internet’s version of the old world. LLMs are a much more powerful and all encompassing version of the information world we were born into. It feels free but it actually removes the need/option to judge credibility and value. It answers your question.
We will say “back in the day, Google would give you a list of websites and it was up to you to find the information.” They will laugh, like we laughed. But what if the geezers are right this time?
What happens when we collectively forget how to dig?

I’m about 3 weeks into doing regular ice baths first thing in the morning for a few minutes. Shooting for a minimum of10 mins a week. It’s def having some interesting effects on me throughout the day.

I started a redwood bonsai from seed like 5 years ago. It was doing really well until I got cocky and pruned it too hard this past spring before a cold snap killed it 🤦🏻‍♂️

Ficus make great first bonsai. They grow very fast and are difficult to kill as long as you them warm and wet.

Seeing my parents w my kids bothered me so much until I realized this. My wife didn’t understand when I’d try to explain - the most subtle things would ignite my inner world. But then I comforted that little child inside me and suddenly had compassion for my parents. They were just doing their best and I internalized where they fell short. Seeing this changed a lot for me.

Like @nprofile…zc47, I woke up on Wednesday not thinking much about Kirk. Since his assassination, I can’t watch his videos without getting upset and often crying.
What captivates me is the manner and context of the dialogue - surrounded by young people, in a public space dedicated to learning, he facilitates a civil dialogue about the most politically charged topics of our time. The contrast created by the events of this week reveal deep beauty in these dialogues. Even the smallest respectful gestures by either Kirk or his debate partner are magnified in a way that wrenches my heart. The debate itself is drowned out by the space between, the body language of the person not speaking, the attention of the crowd, etc.
Why it took his brutal death to reveal the beauty hidden in these videos is something we should all ponder.

Today republicans passed the one big beautiful bill. A massive spending bill that steals from future generations. Dems would’ve done the same thing and spent the money a little different.
This reckless spending is bad for Americans and guarantees that our money will continue to be stolen from us via dilution of the money supply.
Meanwhile we have a finite digital asset in Bitcoin offering a life raft to the masses. Anyone can jump on at any time without permission. The only pre-req is courage.
Courage to take the exit and leave the old, dying system behind.

I come from what most would deem a functional family and also deal with this shit. To some degree, I think pain is a mandatory part of transitioning from child to adult. We make meditation so complicated. Like nutrition and exercise, meditation is simple but very hard. You have to commit to sitting still in an upright position and paying attention to what is happening in and around your body. Try to do this 10 mins a day for 30 days straight and you will feel learn more about meditation than reading any book/article.
