This isn't abstract theory—Roger Ulrich's 1984 clinical study proved hospital patients viewing trees healed faster and needed less pain medication than those facing brick walls.

SAIBA-45 is a display font that was inspired by CyberPunk, NeoTokyo, Mecha, Manga/Anime, Retro, Tech, and Futuristic styles. It was intended to be used for short-form and large-format displays, but not limited to this type of application. Efficient ways to experiment with this font are provided in graphic examples below, but include: distinct logotypes, stylized names and text, unique vector characters, bold titles, and more. The name SAIBA was chosen as the "katakazination" (transforming English to Katakana) of the English word "Cyber" to be pronounced with Japanese vowels and syllables. The word cyber translates to サイバー in Japanese, which is pronounced as "Saiba". The 45 in SAIBA-45 is reflective of the 45 degree angles used to create the prominent edges, defining the look and feel of the font. This font has been in development since 2021.

# You can’t make everyone a star performer. I really wanted to believe I could.
The instinct is to think “I’ll just coach everyone up to that level.” But the people who can operate in high ambiguity, synthesize across domains, make sound judgment calls under pressure, they’re fundamentally sparse. That’s what makes them exceptional.
The goal isn’t to make your entire team interchangeable at the highest level. It’s to accept that star talent will always be non-fungible, and build accordingly.
That means two things: First, you need these people on your team. Not later, not “once we can afford it.” If you’re facing problems that could reshape your trajectory and you don’t have anyone who can operate at that level, you’re hoping for luck. Second, you need to use them deliberately. They’re scarce. Burning them out on routine problems is waste. Failing to deploy them on the unprecedented stuff is also waste.

## A tool to improve design effectiveness
A design critique is a structured, collaborative session where designers, peers, and stakeholders evaluate a design artifact to provide constructive feedback and improve the design's effectiveness, quality, and alignment with user needs and business objectives. A good design critique is never about personal taste and should always strive to be as objective as possible.
## Critiques as necessary collisions
A critique is not a governance mechanism, nor is it a group brainstorming session. It's a necessary collision. It’s the intentional application of adversarial thought to something that isn't finished yet. Its sole purpose is to pressure-test the underlying assumptions. Ultimately, critiques are about injecting constructive doubt into a designer's premature certainty before they build too much or go too far.

When you're leading a team of five or 10 people, feedback is pretty easy. It's not even really "feedback”: you’re just talking. You may have hired everyone yourself. You might sit near them (or at least sit near them virtually). Maybe you have lunch with them regularly. You know their kids' names, their coffee preferences, and what they're reading. So when someone has a concern about the direction you're taking things, they just... tell you.
You trust them. They trust you. It's just friends talking. You know where they're coming from.
At twenty people, things begin to shift a little. You’re probably starting to build up a second layer of leadership and there are multiple teams under you, but you're still fairly close to everyone. The relationships are there, they just may be a bit weaker than before. When someone has a pointed question about your strategy, you probably mostly know their story, their perspective, and what motivates them. The context is fuzzy, but it’s still there.

One of the most overlooked but essential tools for idea nurturing is what I call “Indicate Behavior.” It’s the act of clearly signaling whether a brainstorming session or meeting is meant for expansive thinking (idea generation) or reductive thinking (evaluation and refinement).
Trying to brainstorm and critique simultaneously is like mixing oil and water. People either freeze up or default to safe, surface-level ideas.
These cues break critical thinking patterns and invite curiosity, fostering psychological safety by telling the brain, “It’s OK to imagine here.”

Ideas don’t grow in fear. They grow in environments where risk-taking feels shared. One of the busiest breakout sessions I attended at this year's TPAC was the one about the open web and what threats to consider. I regretted not bringing up my greatest worry: that when people stop visiting websites directly, they're filtering content through an opaque system.
The discussion was about threats to the open web due to the emergence of large language models (LLMs). Large parts of the web have always been open. Not just to users, but also to crawling. When search engines crawl, it's seen as a net benefit to websites, especially when it gets them viewers for the ads that support the content. But now there are crawlers aimed at training and answering LLMs. They are a threat when they increase hosting bills (it can be DDOS-like), but they are also a threat when they reduce human visits. When users can access the crawled content without coming to the source website, they may never leave the LLM.

## AN AUTOMATION FOR THE FUTURE

Clocks are one of the oldest design playgrounds, and yet most of us still live with the same two-hand layout we grew up with. Designers keep trying to find new ways to visualize time, sometimes at the cost of instant readability. The Trace Line Clock is a small desk piece that connects hours and minutes with a single, constantly changing line, turning the familiar dial into something that feels a little more like a drawing.
The Trace Line Clock is a minimal, 3D-printed desk clock by Hye-jin Park that uses one continuous hand to show both hours and minutes. The inner end of the line rides an inner circle for the hour, while the outer end rides an outer circle for the minute. As time passes, the line’s angle and length shift, so every glance shows a new geometric relationship between the two.

Tag a function with a decorator, let the bundled Flask app spin up, and suddenly your script feels like a real product instead of a one-off command.

What you get: In just three lines of code, all regular functions of your python code will be ready to use on a UI. Every argument of these functions becomes input forms and on using them, their responses get render in rich JSON. All this, while the whole thing still feels feather-light because it is plain HTML/CSS/JS (no React, no design system du jour).

Turn out are not, Audubon Explorer only provide migrations happening between the Americas and nearby continents. Really captivating to think about the hard work these animals do, especially if we compare with those city animals that struggle to getup and grab something to eat from the fridge.

Well is not, Audubon Explorer only provide migrations happening between the Americas and nearby continents. Really captivating to think about the hard work these animals do, especially if we compare with those city animals that struggle to getup and grab something to eat from the fridge.

# Yes, we like flags. We like them a lot. Actually, we are so fascinated by flags that we decided to explore them in every possible way in order to share our fascination with you.

### Why?
Sure, there are a lot of books and websites covering the different aspects of flags like history, demography and culture, through heavy text, but we wanted to add new aspects to this field by only looking at the graphics and telling the story visually. So we started this Flag Stories project to discover the hidden stories behind the graphics.
### How?
Basically we started looking at all the flags in the world and squeezed all the data we could possibly gather in to a blank spreadsheet. The more we dug into it, the more stories we managed to reveal, so our plan is to keep digging and continuously adding new stories to the project. Wikipedia has been our most used source for information, but you will find the specific source list for each visual at the bottom of the page. We have included flags of the UN member states.
### Who?
We are ferdio - an infographic agency in Copenhagen transforming data and information into captivating visuals. So this project is pretty representative of our client based projects: adding value to data and information by telling visual stories that inform and inspire.

You’d think that by 2025 I would be sick of anything addressing the “future” by now. Having lived through the 60s through 90s visionary predictions of a pessimistic future – and having been a Philip K. Dick fan until well into the 2000s – I’ve had more than enough dystopian predictions come true. I look at the future as a fearsome spectre, which should mean that any symbolic references must cause me to feel the sting of future shock. Nevertheless, I continue to be fascinated with futuristic art and design.

Dot-matrix letterforms tend to have a nostalgic air dating back to the 80s and the initial digital typographic era. They may also seem quaint – if not passe – by standards of today. However, van Rosmalen’s mathematically precise design, notably in the Cyrillic version, brings the future-past into the future-present. The structure of Archive Matrix in larger sizes is decidedly modern; in smaller weights it feels like letters on a primordial computer screen. Either way, it works well.
It may seem, at first glance, that there are limited applications for Archive Matrix, but that ignores its uncanny potential for adding movement to a text.

Conspiratorial Design. Information design for the bigger picture

Bringing two concepts we usually regard as antithetical, visual designer Carlo Bramanti examines how design and conspiracy theory intersect in their practices and output. Design is generally perceived as a discipline that makes the complex intelligible; it illustrates reliable facts and streamlines information. Conspiracy theories, on the other hand, stretch facts to their most grotesque limits; they create chaos and confusion. And yet, for Bramanti, both attempt to address the same human aspiration for meaning and order.
Design (in particular information design) and conspiracy theory, he says, share a tendency to think in terms of large-scale systems. They both look for strong and seductive narratives that will reveal “the bigger picture”. Designers process vast amounts of information and synthesise them in an engaging way. To do so, they look for patterns and new connections, which makes them vulnerable to conspiracy. But while design strives to “raise awareness”, conspiracy theory talks about “awakening”.
Bramanti finds the connections between design and conspiracy theory so compelling that he coined a term for the common ground that they share: Conspiratorial Design.

Finding a soul in this world seems to be a rare quality these days, especially in software-internet-land.
- Every app looks the same.
- Every website looks the same.
- Every process looks the same.
The rise of Tailwind, design system templates, and other dev frameworks has made it easier than ever to achieve visually appealing designs, often without the need for a designer’s hands. Out-of-the-box components, elegant icons, and ready-to-apply CSS are now within reach for whoever desires.
This abundance has made programming life easier while speeding up the design process, but it also appears to dull creative thinking. Alongside trends that come and go, sameness has become the default state. The spark of the past has faded in many aspects, far beyond the digital sphere: quirky tech brand logos have turned banal, social networks media wear the same interface, and web design is.. well, web design.
