And/if you ever made that move, because it’s shit here (and I agree) you would take a few decades of your cultural self into a new space and both absorb and emit culture.
Some people are very insular, myself much so, but I’ve also lived and worked in various countries, sometimes that’s pissed of local people, be that Greece, Manchester or wherever. Everyone has their own threat models to deal with.

And I tend to disagree in that culture is an ever expanding/contracting blob of stuff that feeds off itself and other cultures constantly, some cultural aspects become Lindy and prevail, others don’t. In terms of perception we have our individual, immediate time and space and we can interpret that how we like.
Whatever cultural space I exist in, it’s so massively influenced by a history of human movement and interaction some of which could be ancient and unique to this piece of land but most of it not, it’s a mashup of stuff, even in the most ‘traditional’ of British settings. What it is/isn’t has evolved over 1000s of years of contractions and expansions. It’s as British as fish and chips.

And yes, I think that housing move by Thatcher was like a little crack pipe for the generation that benefited from buying property on the cheap but we now have a massively distorted housing market which is shite.

Well telecoms, steel, utilities, the NHS etc were all state owned/run and whilst the perception is the NHS is state run, it’s chopped up and managed by the private sector.
To me this is worse as shareholder value is extracted from state funds and yes obviously the currency is BS but is £10 poorly managed, really worse than £10 poorly managed and with profits taken? I’m not pretending I have any answers but it seems a lot of people gloss over these facts that the printed money isn’t so much wasted by the state (although yes it is) but said cash is extracted by private entities while a nurse/street cleaner/nuclear scientist sees exactly 0 upside.
