Feel free to jump in the discord and I can help you diagnose!
No_route is typically something with the webhook setup, two things to check:
1. Is your site name correct on the dashboard? Go to Webhooks and make sure it matches the url it’s hosted at.
2. Is the code snippet at api/mdk/route.js correct? Agents are pretty good at this part, but good to double check. Just copy / paste what’s in the readme.
We use Webhooks to ping your node when a payment is coming in. If we can’t reach your site then the payment will fail no_route.
Looked like your agent was trying local with ngrok? That can work but you’ll need to adjust the webhook url to your exact ngrok url. We’re working on a more friendly local experience (on mutinynet) and will have that out soon.

Really struck by people asking us about stablecoins.
It’s clear no one has actually tried to use these things.
The stablecoin ecosystem was already fragmented across two coins and n+1 chains, now with everyone issuing their own stablecoin, the whole thing is a disaster.
Any broadly compatible UX has you choosing which coin, which chain, “ONLY DEPOSIT USDC ON SOLANA”
It’s clear that banks / VCs think stablecoins are it, but for normal people doing normal things, the UX is absolutely abysmal.
It is web3 all over again. It’s the third time I’ve seen the crypto playbook in action and it still falls flat.
- big partnerships
- lots of money
- all marketing, no substance
“But Nick the stablecoin UX will be simple, you will just have a bank account and dollars, everything else will be in the background”
That’s great for people with these theoretical bank accounts, but ultimately what you’re talking about is slightly upgraded tradfi, not access and tam increasing internet money.
What we see with moneydevkit is many, many more people being able to generate value online, and the same barriers to entry to accepting value online. Stablecoins are not on a path to fix this meaningfully. They’re on a path to create a new visa, which is ultimately uninteresting and cannabalistic as opposed to generative. We are going much bigger.

Have been thinking about the maple syrup op recently. I realized this year I have many more trees than I thought. I can get much more sap than I can boil at this point.
More sap —> bigger evaporator —> sugar shack
When you have abundance in one area you have to scale to make the finished product. It’s a bit of a jump but worth it to be able to give syrup to more friends. Just have to take the leap sometimes :)

The issue is these guys had good reasons to get people riled up. Could have been defused quickly if there was a consistent, logical argument coming out for changes but there wasn’t for a while. Instead we got gaslighting, “paternalistic censorship” and actively antagonizing comments.
It was a shift in thinking, communicated poorly, and the worst part was otherwise smart respected people dipping to unnecessary lows due to open source bad blood.
The outcome is instead of having a somewhat hard conversation about the reasons for core wanting to nuke mempool policy, we’re now having the conversation about whether people are going to run core at all. Much worse.
The solution isn’t more Luke bashing its core building trust with people again. Arguably the easier thing, the hard part is eating a bit of humble pie.

A lot honestly. Biggest for me is the personal freedoms, and they’re growing over time instead of shrinking. The FSP pushes that along, but people in NH were already freedom loving before. No sales / income tax, no seatbelt / motorcycle helmet laws are like hardcoded here.
Nice nature, lots of things to do.
Good, outdoorsy, freedom loving people. Low concentration of busy bodies. Feel very normal doing a bit of homesteading, growing apples, raising chickens, tapping for maple syrup. Only wanted to raise my kids here.

I moved to NH with the free state project in 2013.

The miner previously famous for announcing they were only going to mine ofac compliant blocks has launched a private txn submission product whose main feature is easily bypassing mempool policy.
Pieter Wuille in an interview with optech said “[Out of band payments and private mempools are] our biggest enemy. Among the top contenders of the biggest threats to Bitcoin in the short to medium term”
If private mempools become more attractive than the p2p mempool built into core, Bitcoin will have a serious centralization problem. Now imagine the company running that private mempool also has a press release out that they only mine ofac compliant blocks. See where this is going?
So much of this conversation has been caught up in jpeg this and censorship that, when in reality this is the real problem.
Literally the ofac block company is standing up the service that could actually seriously harm Bitcoin. Knowingly? I don’t know, and honestly I’m sure the core devs had something to say about it, but I’m surprised the social media hornets nest did not.
Instead of hearing this very compelling message in support of core’s actions, I’ve been reading all this shit about this core dev actually isn’t very smart and mempool policies are censorship Actually.
It is such a missed opportunity to align actual significant efforts to maintain bitcoin’s decentralization and neutrality with the social immune system of the Bitcoin community. I wish I had put it together sooner.
Core is supposed to write good code, but there’s this secret other thing that needs to be done, and that’s making sure people run it. I don’t think it’s entirely the Core devs’ jobs, but I think the bit would have helped a lot. Code is law but it’s nothing if no one runs it.
I feel like no one wanted to stir the pot? But every core dev is adjacent to a professional pot stirrer. What are the influencers good for if not this?
And now, instead of being a little mean to one of the literal worst miners, core has to deal with people questioning whether they’ll even run their code. It’s a shame because I think the threat is real, and the actions are justified. Being a little clearer about the reasons why would do a lot.

If I were wanting to make a big impact on bitcoin payments and I was working with big fintech apps with Bitcoin capability.
I’d ship Pay to lightning from fiat. Buy / send out in one step (after confirmation of course)
- no btc exposure for people who don’t want it
- maximal compatibility globally
- further shores up the access argument. Big fintechs can make this happen for many users

The APR comes from payments that aren’t from c= / Block. I don’t know how you don’t call that routing. Those are other nodes using that liquidity and paying for the privilege. You can copy c=‘s strategy if you’d like.
You are correct there is more value in running a business that assists or directly does lighting payments over running a “pure router.” There’s room for the latter but it can be tight.

Tyler was likely the one that pulled that data. This was all outside of Cash transactions.
Theres still a lot to be made out there if you know where to put your liquidity, but that edge fades over time (as word gets out that we were doing well!)
The most will be made by being a real economic actor on the network. But there are still plenty of places that need liquidity and that is a constantly growing and changing need.

How can c= generate such a return with just routing?
Lightning liquidity is the most underestimated part of the network.
It’s part of what we solve at moneydevkit, but here’s a bit about how we did it at Block
1. Real transactions.
Cash is one of the biggest lightning services on the network. It connects millions to lightning, and as Miles pointed out, more and more people are using it everyday.
By nature of cash being custodial, we had insights into what people were using lightning for. This was part of the original thesis of c=.
There are some big players out there that node runners have no idea about 🤷🏻‍♂️. Lightning privacy works very well. Apologies monero trolls.
2. Liquidity in our favor
Most people buy bitcoin on cashapp and withdraw (based)
That transaction flow is ideal for lightning, and in the right hands, you can flex it to pay for and make a handsome return on your own payments and operations.
For the plebnet inclined— c= is an inbound generator. For its capacity it’s typically had 1-3X+ more inbound than outbound. This is a very unique position on the network.
3. Strategy
The management the team did not only improved the experience for Cash users, it compounded payments and fees going through our channels.
We expected to get some return, but we were pretty blown away by the volumes and takes.
The ROI we collected was not from Cash.
This was just step 0.5. The next steps were to flex our position and liquidity to bolster bigger and higher value things. One of those was Square.
In the end, the real value comes from real people making real payments. It’s why I’ve always harped on this:
We don’t need X protocol or Y L2. The technology is there. We need to do the hard part of bringing it to real people now.
For you nostr folks consider— on-chain fees were never even a thought in our minds. Our margins were fat.

Our first iterations will be focused on taking payments, but our goal will be integration on your side being as easy as possible.
Your users will need to have Bitcoin / lightning enabled wallets. People who have coinbase / cashapp will have a relatively easy time for example.
A really nice experience that some are working on is the ability to buy and send out bitcoin in one fluid motion. Imagine you’ve scanned a lightning QR from your bank account and it just works. When more catch on to this, there won’t be much of a difference.

The death of Nostr Wallet Auth is a tragedy, can we bring it back?
Mutiny had taken NWC and made it the best way to do "pull" style bitcoin payments for subscriptions and other things.
Reading through the NIP proposal where @npub1u8l…turz tried to share this nice bit of UX with the nostr community was a trip down open source spec hell and it has ended in it withering on the vine.

Stablecoins being denominated in $ does not make them easier to use or for people to pick up
Stablecoins have the same friction of Bitcoin, if you want real $ that you can buy groceries with, you have to buy / sell them. And don’t get me started on all the different chains, bridges, gas fees etc.
Taxes are another thing, but I doubt people are sitting around saying “if only I didn’t have to use bitcoin.tax I would be spending Bitcoin right now”
Similarly, very few people are saying “I would spend in crypto if only there was something just like dollars” they are just using dollars. For those who are not able to use dollars, bills like the genius act are adding kyc to make sure they can’t use stablecoins for payments anyway.
Long term, Bitcoin is more universal, has more liquidity, and with improving tools and applications, will be easier to use than even dollars and bank accounts, let alone stablecoins spread across multiple chains each with their own peculiarities

I don’t spend a lot of time in the libertarian meme of picking your exact genre but I’m pretty sure at this point I’m not an ancap.
Don’t get me wrong I have friends who are, and I love everything about the ideology, but it’s hard for me to get behind the real end goal, which appears to me to be burning it all down and replacing it with ~not much~
I rarely pick the “mid” option but I think I’m much more of a minarchist. Or rather I’d love to see ancap work, but I’m not going to let that prevent me from trying to influence our institutions today.
What I see right now is a huge push of the Overton window towards liberty. Doge could very well be the minarchist dream and it seems to be driven by the same sort of thought.
To have many libertarians say “that’s not good enough” and “I’m not aligned with any politician,” …while I understand the sentiment, I think it’s a bit of a shame.
The bitcoin community could stand to get a lot out of the current US administration. I’ve seen x posts about going back to the gold standard, negativity around debanking. Questioning regulatory overreach.
I’m going to do my damndest to try to push these conversations, and at this point I have no shame in working within the current political system.

Async receive takes that need away. The payment goes through from the pov of the sender and is held trustlessly at their lsp / wallet provider. When the receiver is available, they sign and receive it. No need to be online at the same time
