Anyone have any suggestions for the best way to get a globally usable internet phone number or something close (North & South America being the primary focus)?
I am temporarily using Silent Link for data & intend to switch to a more local service provider, but I would like to set up a SIP number that I can use with pretty much any data plan or service.
Anyone have any experience doing something similar? Are there services that are more or less secure than others or is it all just equally insecure as a general form of communication?
Are texts & calls generally reliable so long as the data connection is good or is it hit & miss?

The harsh truth is that Bitcoin's current lack of maturity & the almost nonexistant market of support hardware makes it completely useless for anyone in real emergency situations. It was useless in most of western NC when power & internet were wiped out & it has been useless in Iran with the internet down for weeks. In this apartment in Montreal the washer will run all the way through with no problems IF the lights in the apartment are on. If the lights are off, the washer will flip its breaker. The lights & washer are not on the same breaker.
I have built houses & am familiar with residential wiring. I cannot fathom how this is possible. I did not believe it until I saw it repeated consistently many times. Part of me still doesn't fully believe it because it makes no sense to me. But maybe there is something wildly different about commercial wiring?

Our dental appointment today in Montreal was prevented by the police in what was most likely a politically motivated raid. It seems their computers (at the very least) are being seized which is horribly disruptive & they will not be able to operate for some time. Hopefully Dr Benoit has decent lawyers.
He got a lot of publicity (& negative attention from govt) during covid for being opposed to both masks & the experimental gene therapy jabs. He opposes fluoride laced products & the use of any metals in dentistry. He specializes in removal of mercury amalgam fillings & root canals. He uses only ceramics.
They say he opposes products that are proven safe & promotes more expensive solutions to line his own pockets. This is in spite of the fact that his customers generally seek him out for exactly what he offers. It sounds to me like others in the field are insulted by his insistence that they are wrong & feel threatened by his success. Hopefully he will not be shut down for long.

I'm not sure of what use it is to believe in "a divine play of illusion" or how you even define such a thing. But you cannot build cars & airplanes & skyscrapers in a subjective world. Again, our inability to perfectly determine every detail of our objective reality doesn't make it any less objective.

Emotions are a natural part of the human experience. But "feeling like a woman" is not a real thing. It's a delusion.
If feelings do not align with reality (if someone is deathly afraid of clowns or elevators or something) it is their responsibility to align their feelings with reality.
There is an objective reality. No person has the ability to tell perfectly what is objectively true, but we can generally tell what is closer or farther from the truth given some time.
The people who cling to delusions tend to feel increasingly anxious, more easily triggered, & more powerless. The amount of truth or reality they need to avoid to maintain their delusions tends to grow with time.
People who are aligned with reality tend to feel more relaxed & efficatious with time.

Not wanting a repeat of what happened to BSV has nothing to do with "the law," it's simply a rational understanding of incentives & history to want to limit arbitrary data storage.
Filters centralize nothing. Datum is actually helping to decentralize mining. Lowering the amount of data that each node has to relay also increases decentralization.

Yes, my understanding is that the option to filter what is being relayed by Op return size is just gone. When someone suggested that a plugin could be built to add filters back if people wanted them (so that things of this nature didin't have to be decided by core) some of the devs freaked out about that too.

This shit really has nothing to do with statism. It's about whether you get to set the rules on your own node or not.
I think people who want to make it easier & more welcoming for others to store arbitrary data on all nodes (whether the node runner wants to relay & facilitate that crap getting into the chain or not) are either making a serious mistake or are malicious actors.
If nodes can not set their own rules then bitcoin becomes less decentralized.
You can currently accept & relay whatever garbage you want. I can currently refuse to relay things. Core wants to remove one of these options in a top down fashion.

No, Knots just leaves people the ability to set whatever parameters they want. Core is eliminating said ability. One facilitates decentralized behavior, the other attempts to dictate behavior in a centralized way.

Storage is not the most important requirement, bandwidth has always been the primary concern. Real decentralization depends on the number of full nodes. If we are not lowering the barrier to full node operation then we are not improving decentralization.

IMO the FCC threatened ABC in order to take advantage of a market driven change (the firing of Kimmel for low ratings) as a tool to further radicalize the portion of the left that they still have influence over. There are some who truly see Kimmel's firing as some sort of proof that the current admin is fascist. Doing so creates a precedent for further expansion of govt power (future govt pressure for firing govt opposed commentators & a foundation for hate speech laws) while further priming the most delusional leftists for violence against what they perceive to be fascism. With the further goal of using any resulting leftwing violence as an excuse for gun control (under the guise of required mental health assessments) and increasing authoritarian surveillance.

The government does not really control the internet, they are arguably more dependent on it than we are. If they really controlled it then nothing they opposed would ever happen on the internet. Govt officials will become as dependent on bitcoin too & efforts to disrupt it will be as much a threat to their wealth as anyone else's.

That's not how money works.
Govt buying bitcoin is transferring wealth & influence & purchasing power to the army of cryptoanarchists that hold bitcoin. It accelerates the decline of fiat & removes the primary power that govt has in their effort to control society.
It ultimately removes their ability to print money. But it's so advantageous in the short run that govt officials will not do what is in their own long term best interest with regard to maintaining or expanding power & control.

90/90 sitting position, attempt to lift rear foot off of the ground - keep knee on the floor, butt cramps mean the mustle is trying to work. Even if you can't get your foot off the ground at first this will quickly improve. Lay a 2lb or 5lb weight on your foot as this gets easier
Couch stretch - rotate the lower part of your hips forward to magnify stretch
Seated good mornings - focus on keeping back straight, chest up, and don't worry too much about range at first. Sit with legs wide, activate glutes, lean forward, feel glutes pulling you back to vertical.
scapular wall slides - goal is to fully press lower back & head against wall at the same time while sliding arms & elbows up pressed against wall too.
Prone Y raises - lay flat, face to the floor, arms super straight above head in dual karate chop form, thumbs to the sky, lift in direction of thumbs.
45 degree back extension machine is also super helpful once you get decent at the things above. Start with just a 2 minute hold. Then single leg holds. Then work toward 30 reps with no weight. Then start adding weight.
The goal is to both stretch & strengthen the weaker muscles so that everything can begin to relax. Stronger muscles can relax when they do not have to compensate for others that are not functioning properly.
Offset farmer walks, heavy weight/kettle bell in one hand, light weight/kettle bell in other hand held above head with arm super straight. Walk for one or two minutes. Put light weight down (keep holding heavy weight) & now walk with light hand behind head for another minute or two. Then switch sides.
Pull-ups have also helped drag some of the tension out of my lower back in the past & dead hangs can also be helpful.
