Yeats is of course the one I know the best, and he for sure had a way for words. He has a very contradictory life though. In his poem “on writing a war poem” he seems to say there’s no point in political poetry and then goes on to be a very political person. :)
More recently I’ve been drawn in by Oscar Wilde. I only knew him for his plays, but I discover he wrote some poetry earlier in life. The Picture of Dorian Gray for example is how I view the United States right for a while — we have an outward image but a dying soul painting in our attic. I also like his positions against tyranny.
Who would you suggest I read more?

I recommend you read Against the Machine by Paul Kingsnorth. He discusses this for the UK/Ireland a bit but he lives now in rural Ireland.

Sadly I do find bitcoin culture (in general) to be not positive. I’ve been moving away from it to a community of artists, who are much more open minded than most bitcoiners I find.
And I agree it’s the small majority, but they are setting the tone. Is it possible to ignore this? Of course. But the crypto-anarchy roots have been co-opted into something else.
This also happened with the OG hackers. In the 90s we talked about fuck the man and all this and now these same people (I know) are working for defense contractors.
At this point, I think it’s much more a radical idea to go without money, like Mark Boyle, then to be an advocate of bitcoin.
I wish I had a more optimistic view. There are pockets of interesting developments and people still. But I’d rather go to a poetry meetup than a bitcoin one at this time.

Try to work on getting the second shot off a bit faster. You can also experiment with a thumbs forward grip in your left hand.
I think you are overthinking your follow-up shots. Really try to push it and you'll be surprised with how much it improves your speed. You will maintain decency accuracy too especially at that range.
It is fun. I used to shoot in competition but was only just OK.

People underestimate what they can accomplish in a year.

- 7 open mic performances including 1 in Prague
- Participated in 2 satellite spotlights
- Had 2 poems and 2 photos published in 1 subversive zine
- Performed poetry at 1 Dark Prague event
Some people count sats, followers, downloads, or other metrics, but these are the metrics that matter to me.

Yeah so castapod gives you the ability to add "custom rss." Not sure if that's called exactly that. But you can paste in a xml snippet.
You can do this at the podcast level or the episode level.
So you can start by finding a valid RSS feed, copy their <value> block, modify it for your node or lnaddress, and then just paste it in.
For this, it worked.

Thomas Pynchon has a new book, Shadow Ticket, that will be released in a week.
His last book, Bleeding Edge, was published over a decade ago.
For all my hackers out there, this one is not to be missed. He gets the culture correct, from the exploit cycle drops at blackhat and defcon, to a metal gear solid reference.
I still prefer Crying the Lot of 49 the best, but if you were part of early hacker culture especially, you should enjoy Bleeding Edge.
I wrote a Sestina, which is a kind of poem with rotating words, not unlike AES s-boxes, about it here.

The problem with meshtastic and reticulum and bitchat is none of them are very frequency agile.
I like the concepts but look at the Ukraine war. It is modern electronic warfare. Drones are wired now. Fiber optics litter the area.
If meshtastic is working, then you are enjoying a non contested environment. My guess is a basic jammer could take it down. It is also I think, easily found via direction finding as is any RF transmission.
I think the future will look like drones with multiple antennas. Movable transmitters.
Also, people underestimate the power of code books. If you can agree on codes, in two characters you can transmit a lot of information.

There is a noise artist that has taken a liking to it and sending me tapes of his. I put some Morse code over it (at the end of the tape) which he said he was cool with. It has a crazy effect I think.

I completely agree. @nprofile…fn5g I think is also pushing for this.
We've been treading water without it and I think Adam and Dave haven't taken the leadership, maybe they don't want to, to resolve it.
It could be done online perhaps with careful organization but meeting irl is always better.

The conference? I don't know. They have a coffee shop in the lobby that runs on all btc payserver. So you go and grab stuff and pay yourself.
If you look at the speaker list there's quite a diverse in terms of payment method people. Lots of xmr types, Bitcoin of course, and even people doing eth.

I kinda liked how it was done by a non technologist. I agree with your response btw, she doesn't go into detail, but that's exactly why I like it.
Cory Doctorow is probably the opposite of this. He goes into all those questions. And then I feel like I'm reading non fiction.
