I’m a little worried that AI will do to coding, what the smartphone did to arts.
Everyone is glued to their phones these days so much so, that someone having the headspace to create true art is becoming rare. I could see the same thing happening with AI coding where great thinkers rely on it too much and true innovation slows.
Do you have any thoughts on this? Has AI demonstrated any ability to actually do something new with coding or does it mainly rely on current standards?

It’s a thick book but I think it should be required reading for anyone graduating high school (certainly will be for all my kids). I’ve recommended it to several friends but only one has cared enough to read it. Most people would rather stick their head in the sand and listen to the bankers.

Ecash can be nice when internet is unreliable since payments can be received offline. Not good for large amounts though so it might be best to use ecash as the POS and transfer balances to self-custody lightning when internet allows.

Wrote this thought experiment today after watching a video on quantum entanglement.
“Mysteries of the universe: Can science help us understand Biblical free will?
Quantum physics has shown us something strange and fascinating.
Two particles can become entangled. When that happens, their properties are linked in such a way that measuring one immediately reveals the result of the other, even across vast distances.
Here is the key part.
Before measurement, each particle’s outcome is genuinely random.
After one is measured, the outcome of the other is definite.
So something can be indeterminate at the moment of measurement, yet fully known once observed.
That raises an interesting question.
If this is true of particles in our universe, could something similar be true of human free will?
The Bible describes humans as real moral agents who are able to choose good or evil. It also teaches that God is sovereign and knows the end from the beginning, a tension that has been debated for centuries.
Maybe those ideas are not opposites.
Maybe, like quantum reality, human choices are real and unconstrained from our perspective, while fully known within God’s eternal knowledge.

Still testing but it looks like I was just able to one shot vibe an app wide storage refactor!
I did this by creating an AI consultant to split the refactor into bite size tasks and write the prompts for the coding agent.
Definitely using this method for large tasks moving forward.

Been making progress on Taskify (you may remember from #NutNovember ). I’ve updated the sharing features to make to-do list and schedule collaboration even smoother. I’ve been able to onboard the whole family for the shared Christmas schedule!

I created a GPT project and loaded the NIPs as context files. When I want to do something new I always ask it how I can make it protocol compliant so it tells me if there’s already a standard out there.

What client are you using? I’ve enabled NIP-60 support for Taskify and it hasn’t been live long enough to say for certain there are no bugs, but I went with the strategy to store all the wallet data locally and then compare timestamps for events pulled from relays to sync updates. Not sure if this is completely interoperable but it’s been pretty stable between taskify clients in my testing.

If you have a problem with cashu on those grounds, you should have the same problem with every other custodial service. It’s a little impractical to think everyone will want to be self-sovereign and run their own bitcoin and lightning nodes.

Is there a reason not to put an ecash request as an extra field in a nostr profile? My thinking is that it would serve as a sort of lightning address for ecash. Clients that don’t support it would just ignore that field.

I know it’s possible with ecash, and there might be a way to do it on native lightning with hold invoices but I think those are more short term (~24hrs). It’s probably possible but I’m personally not aware of any products that offer that kind of feature.

I’ve never personally done it but I think you can do a self send that’s locked to a block height at some point in the future. Then the UTXO will be unspendable until that block height is reached. Of if you’re non-technical just get @npub1xke…d0en and turn on Saylor mode.

I consider myself above average in technical abilities but I was humbled hard the other day at work. Not all lightning uses ecash. Ecash is useful because it enables offline payments, diversified custody, gives excellent privacy to users, and wallets can work with public mints without needing to create a dedicated account with each one.

If you know how lightning works, a mint is essentially a lightning bank. When a wallet requests a payment via lightning, the mint generates an invoice to receive it and the funds go to the mint, then it gives the wallet ecash tokens representing the amount that was received (kind of like an IOU or a coupon). These tokens can then be sent p2p and at anytime they can be redeemed at the mint, and the mint will initiate a lightning payment for the wallet. I hope this is helpful and not more confusing.
The mint handles all lightning transactions for the wallets, and the wallets handle p2p ecash transactions and direct the mint to receive and send lightning payments in exchange for the ecash.

It won’t let you withdraw the full balance via lightning because it has to reserve fees for the lightning payment and needs to overestimate since it doesn’t know what the exact amount will be. All ecash wallets work this way.

I tried updating to this last night and my mint stopped working properly with wallets. Something to do with the fees. It could’ve easily been user error but I downgraded back to 0.18.1 and turned on fees and it worked fine.

The latest Taskify update automatically derives a nostr key pair from shared board IDs and uses it to sign all published events. This means that task updates are published with the same pubkey across clients on a per-board basis. This allows for replaceable and deletable events which will improve performance, and reduces the issue of stale tasks popping up and then disappearing on load.

Yes, I’ve had this thought. This affects the creator space as well. Since there is more and more AI slop and these days, it can be hard to tell the difference, it’s easier to just look at the big creators that already have a reputation.

If you use Taskify you should try out a custom background. The default one is great, but adding your personal touch makes the experience next level.
Tip: choose a darker background for better readability.

My plan for orange pilling this holiday season is to get my family to use Taskify for their wish lists.
We just dropped compound boards, where you can add multiple shared boards together for one seamless view. There’s also a setting to enable an index for faster navigation, just press the list name you want and quickly scroll directly to it.
Taskify uses nostr for shared boards, AES and SHA-256 encryption for private sharing and backups, and has a built in lightning and ecash wallet.
They come for the wishlist and stay for the convenience and privacy.
