We have had some nice sun this winter, more than I imagined when I moved here. Sunniest Christmas Day in decades, and it also snowed like crazy for the new year, more than in a decade or something. So I feel pretty blessed with the combo.

I hate that polyester is so darn warm and cheap. I have done pretty much your layering system this winter, my first ever living through an actual winter. I found wool to be too itchy so I found a 70% wool 30% silk blend base layer that works great. On the coldest of days, I would wear lined pants, too. So far, I have enjoyed the weather because I feel warm. Figuring out gloves has been a separate issue cause they all kinda suck to use a phone with. I found mittens with a removable fingers cap as my solution to that.

Yeah, community makes a big difference. Even here on nostr, pushing past initiation to a sense of community, however minimal, might make it or break it for many. It is why I try to respond, even if just with an emoji, to all comments. Also, why I wish Primal would recognize emoji reactions beyond what they do 😂

Yes, 90% speak very good English. It is absolutely a mix of English and German. My French teacher from high school was born in Germany, and she is teaching me German alongside this because the grammar and syntax are so similar. Getting a job here somewhat depends on speaking it so that is a big motivator.
