Never release Bitcoin in favor of the buyer if you have not received the payment, even if the trader is reliable, "Verified" and trusted with a great reputation, since no one can be held responsible if the payment never arrives.

In our lending platform, the borrower locks the collateral in a multi-signature address created for that specific contract using his own enthropy. This escrow address is a 2 out of 3 multisig.
Lender has one key, borrower has the second, and Hodl Hodl has the third in case a dispute arise and a resolution must be taken by the admins. Meaning that NO party on its own can move the BTC locked in escrow.
Usury is not possible in an unregulated global free market like ours, where both parties agree on all the terms of the contract.
If a lender asks for a too high APR percentage, they will just don't get any borrower. And if a borrower wants to pay a very low APR, they just won't find any lender.
A contract occur when both parts find a match in the middle.

The Hodl Hodl Non-Custodial Process: A Step-by-Step break down!
So how do you trade without someone in the middle holding the funds?
1️⃣ You Create an Offer to trade your bitcoin or choose from an existing offers list.
2️⃣ When a contract is initiated, a multi-signature escrow BTC address is created. This address temporarily holds the seller's Bitcoin, but it requires 2 out of 3 keys to unlock.

The buyer will open a dispute, and one of the Hodl Hodl admins will take over the contract to review the details and resolve according to the data provided by the traders.

The seller sends BTC to an escrow multisignature address, and it keeps locked there until the seller receive the direct payment from the buyer using the payment method agreed on the contract. Once the seller confirms the reception of the payment, the BTC in escrow is released to the buyer.
