Bitcoin can't be forked. Longest chain with the most proof of work is bitcoin. It's in the white paper. People try to make that more complex than it is. Bitcoin never was forked if you follow the rules of bitcoin. Scammers would have people believe otherwise.

Mining is weird. Energy is spent to do what? Order bytes? It doesn't take that amount of energy to order bytes. I know it's about calculating a hash. Heat is lost in the process. Heat loss is usually wasted energy. How much energy is consumed by the flipping of bits, I mean the Newtonian mechanism of it?
In other words, if we had a perfectly efficient ASIC that wasted no energy to heat/resistance, then how much physical work is really consumed to flip some bits in a single round of hash? I would guess it is very tiny.
So, we spend enormous amounts of energy to perform a negligible amount of actual work simply because our technology is wasting it all.

Do you known just how it is parallelized? I def do not have a CPU bottleneck as there is no pegged core during the process. Not even for a moment.

I thought something like this might work as well, but the plan is made complicated by the fact that you can't know if a later block is valid until everything it depends on is validated. It might become a memory or db complicated problem as you try to manage which blocks are valid and which blocks you can't yet finish validating.

This isn't what I have observed on my CPU reading and is it really true that the entire verification process is single threaded? Seems like their might be some nuance to it. See the "-par=" configuration option. I think it's just script verification for a single coin that must be single threaded.
If not, what am I misunderstanding about that option?

In my experience, upgrading from gen4 to gen5 did not affect verification time on local data as much as I expected it would. CPU being under utilized was evidence that something else was the bottleneck (RAM clock?). I didn't measure times but I remembered they were about the same. Granted the gen 4 index happened 2 years previous. Would two years of blocks wipe out any gains? CPU utilization seemed consistent between the two.
blockstream-electrs reindex between pcie4 and 5 did make a big difference (full mode).

I just helped a family member set up a Roku Ultra since their smart tv suddenly became unsupported and cannot connect to some central server before streaming works.
While i used to recommend them, Roku has gone downhill. Thumbsdown product review:
- The new remote uses a rechargeable battery.
- The new remote, as explained during setup, always records audio for "data collection purposes" unless you opt out by switching off a physical switch on the side of the remote. It's green colored when in always-collecting mode.
- You cannot use the device without setting up an account with Roku and connecting a payment method.

Unless I've misunderstood you, you're suggesting that these abstract concepts actually have representation in metaphysical reality. That's the definition of Platonism. Time, space, these are in the realm of physics. A key is just a number, and numbers don't exist in the physical realm. They exist in the mind only.
This is good. We want it this way. Bitcoin is better when people know that it is purely information and has no other special status.
As for a key, a key is not authority. If someone steals a key, they to not suddenly become authorized to open the lock. Is a burgler free of guilt if they used a key to enter your home?

If the high holy feast days were a prophecy of God's plan, doesnt it make sense that He would have had His actual events happen on those days? It especially seems so if we're commanded to celebrate those days. If so, then which feast day applies to the birth of Christ? Sukkot or Yom Kippur seem appropriate.

In my recent years I've had a hard time believing we should celebrate this in Dec. 25th. Most Christians know this isn't the right date. Christ was likely born on a feast day in Autumn, and we are only supposed to hold feast days as sacred.
I don't buy the fiat argument that, "Well, it's tradition." There are plenty of traditions to celebrate on Christmas while still recognizing that Christ was not born on that day.

I've been happy with my bsb2e. I wrote a review of it, but I think I need to update it. Some of the negatives have faded for me. My biggest wish is that Valve makes their wireless open and Bigscreen makes a wireless adapter to use it.

Anybody can take any information and hash it to add to the OTS tree. It's not something Amethyst is necessarily doing, though, Amethyst does support doing it.
OTS is going to add a merkle root. Adding additional hashes to the tree doesnt take up additional space on chain.
It doesnt matter how you feel about whether or not it should be in the chain. The stamp will be created and if you publish anything digital, that has potential to be added to the chain by anyone.

Seems like IP routing has the same or similar issue that LN has. While it doesnt have "fees", you can kind of think of ping time as a fee. The bigger the graph gets, the more hops you have to take, and the longer the request takes. This drives networking toward many nodes connecting to central router for efficiency. I expect LN to solve this issue in a similar manner.

This one connected a couple of dots for me. Something I have been thinking about for a while is how much the increased velocity of media, through the internet, has changed society. News used to take days to arrive, and you'd get a couple of pages of it. People weren't so focused on it because it was the past and minimal in content.
