I agree that solidarity is a natural consequence of human empathy (for those who have it), but some level of limited state welfare (for istance: public health & free basic education) is fine to me (imho pros are still higher than cons for civilization and society as a hole) i.e. I'm not strichtly a libertarian, but... any public expense should be financed only through transparent simple and direct taxation and not via debt & the sneaky money printer that open every door to moneylenders and currency manipulators.
