Last Notes npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds That is insane. Don’t we have far less awful options - garnishment - seems locking you up decreases your ability to pay. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Prayers asking for the intercession of St Veronica (patron of photography) for you and your business. School pictures, here. January is terrible. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Two relevant verses, for where absolution comes from….. Matthew 16:19 (ESV): "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." Matthew 18:18 (ESV): "Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." The words of absolution: “Through the ministry of the Church, may God grant you pardon and peace. And I absolve you from your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit". The priest - as in offering the sacrifice of the mass - is acting in persona Christi, meaning acting as his agent. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Few things regarding The Troubles. First, it was awful, and against what either of the religions profess. Second, Catholics and protestants might consider each other ‘Christians’ in a broad sense (some of the latter might not grant that to Catholics, who conder the protestant churches heretical), but not the same faith. While the conflict had some historical religious roots, by the 20th century that was incidental. The ‘catholic’ side were socialists, if not outright communists. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds You are absolutely right! Almost everyone I talk to dismisses most investment effort as ‘not enough to make a difference’. So untrue. 7 years ago, after a needlessly drawn out divorce, I was insolvent, in major debt, with a negative net worth. Daily, weekly, and monthly effort (as well as the good fortune of discovering Bitcoin in 2020) first eliminated debt, then built savings, which allowed for investment. Took 5ish years to get to even, and about another 2ish to 180 the negative net worth. All small steps - or bites of the elephant, if you prefer. Consistency, humility, patience, and God’s good grace. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds I went to a small Catholic HS in the midwest, in the 90s, so maybe that affects it, but we had a blast. I hated leaving. My kids are both there now, and I’m on the board and in the booster club. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Ya’ll do have a Sith Lord Prime Minister…….major change from Jar-Jar Justin ☺️ npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds As a Roman Catholic, I endorse this wisdom, as I see it play out before my eyes. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Wouldn’t consider Cromwell or the house of Orange as Godly. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Today at Mass, Father mentioned it was the commemoration of Blessed Anna of the Angels, a 17th century Spanish nun &mystic in Peru. Her motto was, ‘I must drcrease that Christ may increase’. I think it is meant in the sense of the dying of our desires (even good ones), and surrendering to God’s will. In a sacrificial way. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds It is honest money, and dishonesty is sinful. I seem to recall mention of honest weights and measure in the bible, as well. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Trust but verify was Ronald Reagan, I believe in reference to Soviet disarmament npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Please go to Star Union Spirits in LaSalle-Peru, IL, and ask them to take Bitcoin on their Square terminal. They said, ‘no one else ever asked’. Awesome cocktails npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Amen, and Merry Christmas. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Thanks, Peter! Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year! npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds God bless you, and your family, this Christmas! Hard to believe mine were ever so small. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds The second amendment was the wisest thing America’s founders did. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds What version of the bible, and what book, chapter, and verses is that? npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Like the Val Kilmer movie, ‘The Saint’ You kids go watch it if you haven’t npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds As a Catholic, one would have to try very hard to outdo the death spiral under the Catholic bishops of England & Wales……to which the CoE apparently says, ‘hold my beer, mate’. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds You don’t really hone your dislike of Boomers to razor sharpness, until you’ve been to a Catholic Mass at the ‘Sign-of-Peace’ npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Not that it’ll settle anything, but we do not worship anyone but God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We pray for the intercession of Saints & Angels, just as we ask our friends on earth for their prayers. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds I was always told, ‘God gave you two ears, and one mouth, for a reason’. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds What have Japanese Christians - particularly Catholics - been doing for the past 3-4 centuries? npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds We sure did. Every mall had at least one arcade, and most restaurants, bowling alleys, etc., had a couple games. My earliest memories of games were buddies older brothers forgotten Atari’s. Then the Christmas when I was 5 or 6 (85 or 86), I got a Nintendo, as I was the oldest. Literally had teenagers asking if they could come play 😆 90s saw it advance so fast. If we didn’t have beer or girls, we were playing Golden Eye or Mario Cart on the 64. Oh, and the world sucked a lot less, and the majority of my childhood was outside, unsupervised, and glorious. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Used to really like Fold, but everything they’ve done in 2025 has soured me. My remaining cash there will be used for Christmas gift cards, then my Sats & I are gone. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds You won’t regret that. Mine have been in Catholic school since preschool. I work as a vendor in public schools, and wouldn’t wish it on any child. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds I agree on the marriage not needing to be at all a ‘state’ - big or little s - thing. And as a Catholic, currently going through the process of an Annullment, I can tell you our position makes you think long and hard, before you call it quits. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Infallible only under very narrow conditions laid out at Vatican I in the 19th Century. As to the Bible, where would you say it came from? By which I mean, who codified what was the canon of scripture? npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds To be a member of the Catholic Church, in union with the Pope, the successor of Peter. When I’ve looked at other churches - primarily the Orthodox - it is the last bit of the Nicene Creed that keeps me Catholic. One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. Lets give the benefit of the doubt on Holy to all churches, despite the sins and failings of their members. One, as in a single, unified group of believers - I don’t see this in any of the broadly Protestant or Reformed churches. Catholic - as in Universal - is where I think the Orthodox are lacking, as they are implicitely national/ethnic. Apostolic - granted from my Catholic perspective - would also preclude the reformed churches. I’m far more on the traditionalist side, so the past 12 years have been especially challenging, at the top levels, though the young clergy give me hope. Sorry, that was a bit long winded. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds You should hope not. We reformed ourselves at Trent, launched the Counter-reformation, converted most of the Western hemisphere, and are still by far the largest percent of Christians. On that last point, I’ll give that all churches are in decline, for the past 60+ years. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Not a good man, from all of my recollections. Final Judgement belongs to God. Pray for the souls of the departed and trust in The Lord’s judgement npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds It is properly All Hallows Eve, ahead of all Saints Day npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Requiem aeternam dona ei, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat ei: Requiescat in pace. Amen npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Prayers to St Anne, for you all npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds I live my life believing this to be the case. God has a plan. I just need to follow his, not mine. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Chesterton & Belloc for the early 20th century Catholic win 😎 npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds I just learned a good friend’s brother took his life today. Father of 3, 2 weeks from retirement, just turned 50 last week. Was on our guys weekend 48 hours ago. Help your friends, say ‘I love you’ more, and please say a prayer for Eric and his family. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Or a priest brought to him before his execution (Tim McVeigh as a recent example). Then prayers for his soul. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Who but the Catholic Church defined the canon of scripture? npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Is his one of the old Anglo-Catholic families of England? npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds What background/church are you coming from? npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Peak SNL was +\- 6 months of that. I was born in 1980 and feel blessed it wasn’t any later npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds First, because we have theright to defend ourselves - over and above the second amendment. Banning guns, or types of guns, will lead to people being less able to defend themselves, their rights, and their property. At the same time, it will do little to prevent criminals from commiting crimes, often with guns……criminals often not following the laws and all. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Shooter was literally a man who believes he is a woman. I can’t find any better poster child for a mental health issue. And as to prayer, yes, every day. For the repose of the souls of those poor children, and even for the repose of the soul of the sick man who murdered them. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Money - of which Bitcoin is the greatest form ever - is an amplifier. If you are an asshole, it’ll make you more of one, if you are a saint, it’ll make you a greater one. My hope is Bitcoin being simple and honest, the percentage of wealthy Bitcoiners who skew ‘moral’ will be higher. We aren’t going to build some silly Utopia, but thoughtfully endowed art, architecture, and institutions that point towards the True, Good, and Beautiful would be a massive improvement. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Two things. Is the stained glass AI or is there an ax-weilding saint I should know more about? I was in Ireland this summer, and had to go to a hardware store to buy a bread knife. Guy in the ‘kitchenware’ aisle at the grocery had clearly gotten my American reaction to that policy before. Good on that girl. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds You might find this interesting, but some of our younger, more Traditional priests - Latin Mass, etc. - strike me as also being a bit skewed to charismatic (Catholic Pentacostal, etc). Seems contradictory, on the surface, but far less in practice npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds I largely agree……. Substituting Catholic for orthodox. And that is in spite of most of our bishops, lol. The word means Universal, which is my main beef with the Eastern Orthodox npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds I think almost all Christians do. I know the Orthodox, most Protestants. Not sure about Copts & Armenians, but that is because I’m unsure if they split before or after that time. npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Aquaponics starter kit 🤣 npub1y83pmc9f03kp0636gnwaaqaana2xjp3lcyx6n9mxn9gwp8l5052s3vdaxk ryanreynolds Truth! #note10k3…xyg2
