but "elegant" isnt a word I'd use personally.
the advantage of just scaling horizontally is we don't need to study the ALL the new security tradeoffs.
its just a copy with some tweaks and there are some bridges in/out..

ie obv there isn't demand for this, the mempool is empty. maybe we do this after blocks are full?

by design, hash will always go where the value resides.

The only reason to argue about it is because you want to preserve the *fiat value* of your UTXOs.

John turned me on to Layerzwallet this morning. They have a good list of different Bitcoin layers/sidechains they want to support.
There are a few varieties of BTC -> XMR atomic swaps. Improvements in monero scripting to make it easier are forthcoming.
More and more LN wallets are parking sats in Liquid to improve UX.
Its not terribly difficult to build atomic swaps to LTC or ZEC if there's demand for it. theyre basically BTC anyway.
and yeah, you can store your wealth in the chain with the highest hash if you want.
its all #Bitcoin man, I'm not joking.

updating a multisig state isn't a token because you have an enforceable L1 claim to the sats.

if you had all the tx volume on Bitcoin, instead of a half-dozen different chains, you'd need bigger blocks.
it works for you and I now because we're the only people using Bitcoin. everyone who isn't a zealot moved to something that offers a better UX.
2nd order solutions become unacceptably centralized. this is inevitable.
but we can keep them *as decentralized as possible* by scaling as much as possible on L1 first.
there's no issue with people making small transactions on L1 except that eventually it becomes too crowded. I understand the techie desire to preemptively solve the problem, but pushing people into centralized solutions before they are even necessary will only make it easier for regulators and harder for users.
