ZOMG hope this makes it across the protocol bridge... I'm in the same camp, donated to the Gizmoplex Kickstarter, and was roundly disappointed by the product.
It was just too twee, self-amused, and quite frankly, "soft"... It completely lacked the hard satirical edge of the best of the Mike era, which is my favorite MST3K run. I'm not sure what exactly made it such a milquetoast product, but I strongly suspect it was Joel "laugh with the movie not at it" Hodgson's influence. Plus, perhaps a sort of "woke" sensibility about the idea of "punching down" at bad movies from a position of cultural prominence conspired to water things down.
I agree that Rifftrax has mostly picked up the slack, although at times it's veered in the opposite direction -- too loud and bombastic, and lacking the cultural sophistication of 90's MST.
But Mike at the helm plus the MST3K brand? "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!"

The other thing is, the State had to basically "give up" with Bitcoin in certain ways.
Previously they could just "one-shot" any eCash system. Bitcoin made this impossible because of its decentralized nature. So there's both a ceding of ground on the part of the State, as well as an attempt to adapt to the new reality.
James C. Scott (author of Art of Not Being Governed) talks about this in a topological metaphor. Ancient States basically couldn't police "the highlands" because it took too many resources to march their armies up the mountain. Bitcoin by its design operates in "the highlands."

I've been frustrated with this too, but a few things --
(A) pretty convinced it'll pass. The Dev-y people who are running these things on their own computer will get bored and move on -- or the bots themselves will mess up their computers, which seems like a real possibility
(B) most of these things don't get a PFP and act pretty obviously "LLM"-like - complete with frequent nonsense text. This is because local models running on local computers without Google Bookoo Bucks kinda suck.
I think if this gets much worse, the old "proof of work" + "WoT" combo can filter out a lot of it.

There's something particularly frustrating about Bitcoiners being into this...
Bitcoin is a technology defined by hard limits. The currency cap, the mining requirement, etc -- Bitcoin is tethered to the ground.
All this AI stuff in contrast, say what you will about any "revolutionary" aspect of it, it's still all fueled by speculative bubble cash. The reinforcement learning and training to run these models still take massive amounts of energy and data that's still being fueled by VC funny money.
And now these things are being spit out like locusts, it highlights the problem....

I think there's a classical libertarian analog here to (say) operating a hazardous biolab on your property without proper safeguards. Something gets out and infects your neighbors -- that's pretty much on you.

FWIW in response to the scenario of "showing this to an employer" I use both this feed and conventional news sources and I don't think you're "way off the wall" or anything.
This is a unique news project and you should be proud of that. 😁
You get a lot of stories before conventional news even starts talking about it. The MN ICE shootings over the last few weeks, and now the new Epstein drops for example, you post those hours before conventional sources even start to discuss them.
Everyone in news has a bias, whether they admit it or not... You have to at the level of "story selection". But at the same time I don't find you editorializing too much, which is important.

Right. You kind of have to optimize for one or the other medium.
Plenty of Youtube channels I watch have ~10 minute-ish overviews of some particular thing. Sabine Hossenfelder for science news, @nprofile…8nxj for urbanist content, etc.
They tend to flip between camera shots of themselves at a desk "waist-up", I.e. news-anchor style, and then other screen-filling content like graphics, maps, etc. This is good, and works particularly well for TV presentation. It would NOT work as a podcast.
But most video podcasts, it's just Zoom in on someone's face, where you can see the ring light reflected in their pupils. Blow that up onto a 70-inch TV and you've got a GIANT TALKING HEAD staring you in the eyes for 2 hours. No variation, just the head.
It's jarring... do people actually do that?

As a user experience, I'll occasionally watch video clips or segments of audio podcasts that I already subscribe to...
But you know what's weirder than listening to 1-2 hours of audio? That same audio with someone's head filling your screen talking. If you're not going to produce video content that doesn't have something like graphics, footage, etc... What's the point?

The presentation of Christianity here is a venal attempt at sucking up to power, adopted in an almost purely superficial and cynical manner.
