The issue is that all towers have limits from their material construction, as any system of logic does. When your cascading logical statements at the rate of tetration, the automatic brick laying machine vs the brick layer, the logical system will increasingly show where the frailty lies.
Something to at least be aware of, to then anticipate where architectural oversight can lead to cascading failures.

The logical "box" is a single, unchanging framework. The world of counting numbers begets a faster counting, that is addition. To undo addition, you have subtraction, which is limited at 0. Therefore, the limit of counting births forth negative numbers.
Faster addition births forth multiplication, to which undoing births division, which is limited by integers. To be able to divide with all numbers, rational numbers are then birthed. The moral of the story is that limitations of any system birth a new system to accommodate innovation - but the resistance to creating a new system are the pressure points, and failing to adapt are the points of cascading failures (look no further than the Tacoma narrow's bridge as an example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tacoma_Narrows_Bridge_(1940)).
So, what I'm pointing to is that this general assumption of increasing efficiency through llms (smaller amount of individuals using a single tool/framework) creates stronger tunnel vision for any organization, and the cracks will become increasingly apparent.
The solution to create a robust society is to widen out from our tunnel vision. A long winded explanation to say what intuition points at all along - diverse minds bringing in multiple perspectives creates an antifragile society & organization.

Any logical system is a self contained box of statements that stack on each other to build structures. Axioms of arethmitic build the structures of numbers, axioms that create our "cognitive bricks" build more complex idea structures.
AI takes these logical boxes and builds on top of them at a blazingly fast speed, which show their limits and edge points of rigidity. Any tower built has a high limit from its materials. If you want to build and more complex structures, you need to incorporate a variety of building materials (a variety of cognitive frameworks)
AI does the same, it is building systems at a rapid rate. At the most basic/individual level, offloading our cognitive capacity is increasing rigidity by atrophying our cognition. At the collective level, massively offloading cognition will build a rigid and fragile company/organization.
Not to negate the use of AI as a tool. But the mistake of assuming a small amount of individuals utilizing a single tool will increasingly place pressure on these points of rigidity, opening up a cascade of consequences.
Where does this come from? Look to Godel's Proof of the Incompleteness theorems - he made a process to demonstrate that any logical system is incomplete, and he did so by building statements so fast that the logical system increasingly shows where it becomes rigid.
Fundamentally, this is telling me that AI will use our logic (of all types, whether mathematical or dialectice) against us, and place pressure on society, increasingly deminstrating its fragility points. That's something to sit with, and digest the implications.
I hope this at least makes a seed of sense. The whole idea can't be unpacked in a single note, so I'm pointing and inviting for further study.

That's the thing, globally - nature isn't doing anything but consistently interact. The consistency carves channels, which we can only look back in retrospect as an optimization of something.
River dams are placed because we humans want to make use of the water flow, or space for some alternative purpose. We think of it as an optimization for something, but it requires a continual upkeep against nature's entropy (or nature's will). Leveraging our own intrinsic motivation (you can call it human entropy) can make maintaining the dam seem like it repairs itself, but you remove the motivations and the larger system's will (entropy) will eventually overtake the dam's structure and the river will revert.
There's a reason I'm mixing entropy and will here that I hope makes sense :)

This Great Oxygenation Event (also known as the Oxygen Holocaust) eventually evolved organisms that could use oxygen as energy and exhaust carbon dioxide waste. If this is a universal process, the question is more about time scale than possibility in the case of plastic.

Here's a *weird* thought:
There's a form of "care of the dead" through interacting with LLMs.
Imagine - data trained on all of history's knowledge, historical entries carry some more weight because they've persisted over time. LLMs output text from the past. It acts as sort of model for what these writers (with the entities that engineered it) want.
You might not get an exact copy of the text, or even what the authors exactly mean, or what secondary sources mean in interpretation, but that desire is essentially coming from the past. A sort of encouragement for us to understand in a different way, possibly even from their perspective.

I was in my university library on the way to find another book and was just struck with some weird anxiety - In approaching the book, it's get an interesting phenomena where all the other books become more relevant to the thing that you're looking for. And so, as I was getting closer, all the books started increasing in intensity, like they started glowing and calling out to me, like an awakening murmor turning into a choir. But like, no one has time to read all those books - So there's just like a dread of not being able to pick up all these things that are getting very interesting. So now I stumbled into one of the wrong isles on the presocratics.
Found this book, titled, In the Dark Places of Wisdom by Peter Kingsley. The book was really weird. In the first two pages, it writes something like "this book will not tell you truth or lies. It's about something else."

Kingsley is apparently controversial, writing perhaps caustically (maybe a strong word, but the direction is right) about academia and modern society. So there's that against-the-grainness of his writing, compounded that the book has no citations and explicitly states that its not saying whether what is says is a truth or lie. So basically one has to take everything lightly, which resonates with that reading of Parmenides
Peculiar all the way down... but still something to sit with, and this is (one example of) what pierced through 😂

Been thinking a lot recently about Parmenides, the *father of logic and metaphysics* - how his poem, known as On Nature, partially known, details how he (or someone of Kouros-like archetype) acquired knowledge.
He was carried on a chariot, into the depths, greeted by daughters of the sun and bestowed knowledge by a goddess. Lots of dualities, chariots drawn by horses of different personalities, being at the entrance between light and dark. My interpretation is that he was taught *both* logic, and whatever *non-logic* is, given the poems symbology and dualities. The typical/popular course of study would view Parmenides as the person who came up with logic, but only like a footnote, and being a presocratic - less important, and also the first who drew the line in the sand of "what is" vs what "is not" - denouncing whatever non-logic might be. But what kinda sticks to me is that he must have existed in a world where non-logic was a norm, so I'm doubtful that he outright rejected it. Given all the dualistic perspectives in the poem - and the meatiness of the section of "On Opinion" compared to the "On Truth" section, he might be pointing at how both are needed. That kind of is interesting, when our modern times place such emphasis on logic, while simulaneously being so nom-logical everywhere.
Could also be a bunch of BS, not like I have any authority on the interpretation 🤣🤷 Just stirring up things, as you asked 🤣

Think you're missing the point - the spec is to link notes, while asciidoc is what Alexandria uses to render because it suits our needs. Other clients can just display the plain text without any rendering. You can decide to just not show any events that have a "m" tag with "text/asciidoc".
The point is interoperable and linked knowledge, not to impose any sort of rendering standard on it, which drastically limits the software one would use to build a client. There's a lot more planned.

Tons of stuff! I'm actually still listening to it, but what got me to post was related to plasticity, learning and novelty.
1) Time goes by faster and slower depending on how novel the environment is, the more novel the experience is the more your brain records to its memory.
2) Your brain becomes more plastic through learning novel things - so its not just about doing crossword puzzles, but more like "do crossword puzzles, and when you get good, find something else to get good at.", write with a different hand, exercise in a different way, etc.
It's a pretty engaging conversation to listen to.
