Delete for profiles is based upon the "id" of your profile, so it will only apply to one single version of your profile. So it's not a problem if the kind 5 delete event is spread around.
Delete of addressable events, such as article, will force you from successfully re-creating the same event kind and identifier.

@nprofile…m0xe does automatic perform "deep discovery" if it can't find the user profile on their relays (10002 relays or kind 3 relays). A lot of users have modified their relays, but not re-published their profiles. So it's fixing up the fragmentation on the network while being used.
Blasting profile everywhere is not ideal, it just increases storage requirement globally, it doesn't scale to put every single profile on every single relay.
Profiles should primarily only exist on the user's account relays, that's where it belongs and that is where users will find the fresh profile.

@nprofile…m0xe supports private lists already, here is a recording that shows it they work. Just make a new list under People section, mark it private. Then from anywhere, you can add people to this list. You can use the list to filter on Feeds, Summary, Streams, Music and more.

You can try it out now, after you get the latest update.
It's only for Premium subscribers at the moment, considered "experimental" feature. You'll find the "Edit" button in the "..." menu on all your posted events.
When editing, you can go to "Advanced options" and "Show Event JSON", then you should see kind 1010, instead of kind 1.
This is also supported by Amethyst, so your edited posts will work fine there as well, maybe others too.
Remember that this edit is not like a centralized system, every edit creates a new post that must be downloaded, so use it with great care.

"New follower" is of course supported already.
Unfollow is not really possible without some processing.
Following requires the following: The person who follows you must publish the following list to your account relays where you are the last entry in the following list. It will not give you notification if you are somewhere else in the list.
Now the question is, how would you be able to get an event when you are unfollowed? It means you would have to listen to kind 3 (follow list) updates for everyone that has ever had your public key in their list... because we can't subscribe to your public key anymore, since it's "gone" now and the event won't be received from relay.
Yeh, Nostr protocol does allow a lot, but it requires a lot of processing for certain things. Your wish is better off for a specific service that does this monitoring and indexing, can be done, but means to build an index over all follows and track unfollows in real time and persist the events.

Thanks, I've built @Nostria over the course of the last 9 months (I built another client years ago in the early days of Nostr). It has everything you asked for, except group messages and polls is only partially implemented. So it has what you want, and a lot more (Music, Streams, ++). I'd love to get your feedback on it.

At first I didn't like the idea, read the whole thread, but sure I'm onboard.
What kind of logic is used to determine if tags is added to the kind 0 or not? Since the spec already supports "i" tags, I can't just check if there is any tags or not. I also cannot simply check "display_name", if not exists, then perform JSON parse as fallback, because some users don't have "display_name", they only have "name", or the opposite.
Has DisplayName tag?
Has Name tag?
Fall back to JSON?

Is there any Linux distro that does PWA packaged wrappers, like Windows, Android and iOS does?
I don't think there is, the only alternative is packing with Tauri/Electron, which I will do in a few weeks time.
There will be a separate installer that allows you to download all the source and run locally without auto-updating, which the progressive web app currently does. When this work is done, there will be installer packages for all desktop environments.

Nostria and other Nostr apps does do NIP-05 aliases, for example:

For premium subscribers, they also get username alias:

There is also a few other URLs for articles that is more "friendly URL", but the primary with nevent/naddr is best as it includes a relay hint that makes it quicker to lookup for any clients.
Nostria will take the author's first relay and include as relay hint, when you copy the ID or the link to posts and articles.

Thanks for the feedback! It is using database, but not for everything yet. Meaning that for certain views it will get from relays and doesn't persist locally.
Version 2.0 had the UI you're after, it was more glass effect and the content went from top to bottom. For version 3.0 this have unfortunately been removed due to making it a bit more coherent and toolbars more where they belong. I'm still tuning the UI so it's not settled entirely yet, but 3.0 reduces "menus" from 3 to 1.
I see what you mean with Search, I will give it some thought and see. Previously the favorites was rendered where Search is, and you toggled it by clicking a search button.
Optimizations and performance is something I'm focusing on next few days, already improved a lot and more will come. Thanks!

Thanks for trying it out! Dark or light mode is initially take from your device, you can toggle it on the menu on the left, or in settings. I don't use light mode nearly enough, I'll get around soon to optimize it a bit more.

This is definitely true, have to balance features, quality and performance.
More features has been added since you wrote this, and improvements on quality and performance. Nostria 3.0 has just been released, please check it out. It's a big upgrade!
In terms of "For You", this will receive more focus in some days. The algorithm is very easy to learn, though I'll take your suggestion and add some description about it so users knows how the scores is calculated (e.g. how much a like is worth versus a zap to someone).
Settings/Algorithm is where you manage it. You can reset the scores, for individual profiles there, and it will re-calculate based upon your interactions with that account. It's a combination of both local metrics and what events (interactions) that has happened.
E.g. if you open a profile many times, this profile get higher score.
"For You" uses this plus it has a few Starter Packs, to ensure there is content there for brand new users on Nostr. I don't want these Starter Packs in the "For You" in the future, need to find a better way to have a feed for newly onboarded users.

Here you go! Can manage interests under Collections, and open individual hashtags as dynamic feeds, or the whole list.
Two notes: Hashtags in posts will link to search, not this dynamic feed. I'm waiting for feedback what users would prefer. I think hashtags anywhere in event should be similar to the video, right? I'll probably change that tonight.
Also perhaps an option to select your interest set directly from Feeds, though I need to find a way to integrate in the UI as it's growing with options there already. Thanks for the feedback!

This is a self-hosted artist I think. I found another that links to RSS feed at wavlake.
I'm adding basic RSS API in Nostria as well, which will aggregate music tracks and spit out an XML RSS feed. Though I probably won't add database caching for this backend API, at least not initially.
Nostria does client side RSS feed parsing allowing user's to consume a feed, but I presume you're wanting to allow users to come from other apps and import their content to Nostr, right?
If you want to do this style of app, I think you need a proper backend that stores the events and have indexes for search and lookup. If you're going to dynamically construct an RSS feed based off Nostr events it will be slow, which is what caster does I think? That's a good idea, Nostria 3.0 has Interests list editing, you can click individual hashtags to open search with them, and it does search feeds, but not by picking interests list and have results of multiple hashtags. I'll add that to an already too complex UI. It will take a few more days to get the quality needed for release.

Most people are so out of touch with reality that they don't know what is going on. They know nothing other than the "current thing".
66% on a poll in a Norwegian news paper want to ban Grok, one of thousands of AI services that exists today. That tells you how disconnected people are.
Anyone with a computer can generate any photograph and video of any person. You can make phone calls and video calls and appear like anyone you want. The quality is already good enough to fool many people, in Norway you will fool probably 66% or more.
Anything you want, you can make. I warned about this a few years ago, that people should begin to prepare. They did not prepare, nobody did. I said to prepare for the day when their kids come home crying because someone at school made some bad videos of them and shared with everyone.
The only reason this is not yet as widespread, is because people are slow at adopting and understanding.
People don't understand this technology, so they want to enforce rules that are not really possible to achieve. xAI, OpenAI and others are doing their best to stop the flood gates of possible generations from this generative AI capability, but it will never be good enough. It also doesn't matter, because any kid with a computer can generate anything they can imagine.
That is why people in power, want to kill access to these service for you. Before, satire was available only to artists that made cartoons featuring politicians or comedians on TV. Now, "satire" is available to everyone and the people in power doesn't like it. They don't like seeing themselves as mockery dressed up in underwear or having sex with pigs (Black Mirror, remember?).
The governments and politicians will continue to fight to obstruct people's access to a free Internet. They understand how detrimental it is to their established power for people to have unlimited access to intelligent helpers at the small cost of a few cents.
They want to hold you back, restrict your access to intelligence, and they will do it under excuses as to protect your kids and to protect you. You're being fooled again, and you deserve it.
It's a new reality, it is time to wake up.

Some Nostr clients will mark the uploads to be compressed by the media server (Blossom). @nprofile…m0xe does this and I'm sure some others do as well, but I don't know which.

Hey @nprofile…zjy9, you got me to make an substack account a while back to simplify the editing experience in @nprofile…m0xe.
Now I opened it up again and I just realized it's a social media too? I had no idea.
Could you tell me a bit about it? I'm just looking at the content there and it appears to be insane amount of engagement, but then I look at comments and it's just a whole bunch of unrelated comments, different languages, etc?
The feeling I get is that it's thousands of bots creating fake comments (at least on some threads I opened)? Or is it really a massive social network by now?
Robert Reich, which just appeared in the feed. He got 1.4 million followers on X, 1.1 million on Substack.

I'm working on my @nprofile…m0xe client, improving the "People" section and I thought about you (saw your profile as I was scrolling), and the meme that vegans will always tell you up-front that you're vegan, came to my mind. I open your profile... and 20 hours ago, you just had to repeat it?

For AI generated content it should maybe be:

Do this, because the first Music client that was implemented does this, and Nostria does the same now. Please don't do this differently as there is already many tracks like this.
OR... since the syntax on other items is "track_number", "sample_rate", it does not follow that "ai-generated" should be with dash and not underscore. So I guess we need to change this to "ai_generated" as suggested.
Doing "license name or URL" is not optimal. This requires a lot of logic on clients and there is no way to organize this properly.
The most commonly used licenses should be included in the NIP, so that apps use the same identifiers. Some clients might want to show different Creative Commons icons for the licenses and if this is different across clients, it will be trouble.
This is what Nostria has today:

Do we really want to support both plain text and markdown for .content? That's a big difference in logic being applied to the content. I vote for plain text only, with a basic structure like already exists:

Amethyst will connect to all the relays the user has. @nprofile…m0xe will by default connect to 3 of them (and it optimizes selection), can be changed in settings.
I believe that user's should have all their data on all their relays, to help with scaling and distribution (data-safety), but users shouldn't be required to connect to all the relays just to get a "complete set of events".

PWABuilder does both, either you have it make keys for you and the keys is part of the download package, or you provide your own. This allows basic devs to get their initial keys for first package, then when updating, they have the keys already, no need to install special tools to generate keys. I suggest supporting both, and for those who don't want to share their keys with the service, they run themselves.

I know, it's a post you did on the internal relay on basspistol. I added support for authentication when browsing a public relay feed, though when posting, it needs some more work if the user should have option to post to only a specific relay. Nostria will always publish to all the user's relays.
I'm not even sure how users are expecting private relays to function, should the event be sent to participants in the thread, or only to the private relay? If only to private relay, and that relay is not part of your account relays, you won't get notified if anyone replies.
But you might not also want the events to spread everywhere, since it's "private" community relay. So how would you want it to work?

Thanks! For sure, already host a lot of servers. It's just that Nostria is in growth phase and being able to rely on exiting relays for some features is one of the strengths with Nostr.
If a lot of these existing service providers goes away and I have to host everything myself, then the value of Nostr protocol dissipates and I could fix a lot of issues that exists in the protocol, then we're back at square one with a "centralized" app and service, which is clearly not what we want.
Compatibility issues is a concern in the ecosystem, there is a lot of workarounds and special edge-cases that must be handled in each Nostr client and now we're seeing "infrastructure services" disappear as well, it creates increased friction for adoption.
Could you please fix your web server where you host your NIP-05 list? It doesn't do CORS settings correctly according to the NIP, so web clients fail to validate it (making it easier to impersonate you on all web clients).

Does any API exist for trending events that includes relay hint? nostr dot wine doesn't include any hints.

I can assume all I want, and I of course assume any Nostr client to use the NIPs, if an Nostr app has private messages, I expect it to use NIP-4 or NIP-17. I'm not going to go through the source code to verify all apps I try out, get a grip buddy.
Also, your app clearly demonstrates the very same issue at hand, your app censors almost every single video and live stream, nothing can be viewed without accepting fairly scary warning dialogs. Building this to "show it to YouTube" doesn't have the effect you wanted.
Even when I am logged in, and I am following you, your awesome Max Verstappen video is censored with a warning.
I turned off community warnings and warnings from followed reports made it more useable. My feedback on that is to make it far easier to change this filtering than going through the whole settings dialog.
"Content Filter Packs" doesn't work that well, turned on Cryptocurrency filter and it hides a lot of unrelated videos.

Of course I would assume it's using NIP-56. The way it works now without logging in makes it fundamentally flawed and useless as an app. Logging in is not much better, it's probably loading the same reports from relays, so any spammer will make the videos hidden with false reporting?
I had a quick look at the code, just a single file, that's neat. I don't know much about how you want it to function so I'm not sure it's best idea to start adding features to it, I would be using AI anyway so better you do it.

Each individual report contains details what it is, but your app simply slaps the same warning on no matter what. That's a bit "scary", because I have no idea what I'm actually revealing. I can take some "profanity", but I don't want "malware".

Great app! It loads a bunch of videos under "Trending", only to remove them again. A lot of the content is marked community warnings. The warnings are super generic, why don't you actually show the specific report? It just lists all the possible report types from the NIP, not what might actually be reported. It really needs to filter out spammers who generate reports as well, some Web of Trust might be needed.

@nprofile…yjn9 has been working on DID support for Nostr, which would make any Nostr key pair pluggable into the DID/VC ecosystem.
I just read a blog post regarding the cost of moving social networks, and how Facebook integrated a "backdoor" into MySpace allowing users to migrate more easily back in the day. Mastodon did something similar when people started exit from Twitter, until they stopped it by closing down their APIs.
The bridge with Mastodon that @nprofile…t7fy built works fairly well, it does increase the amount of content on Nostr.
You're pointing out a major issue though and there is no good solution to the situation.

Thanks for onboarding more people! Unfortunately, remote signers don't have a quick and easy setup method. I would like to implement a way to scan QR code with private key, together with the other details like relays, into for example Amber and have it automatically setup everything. This is not part of the NIP though.
I have done the next best thing, add support for client initiated nostrconnect. Previously it only supported making connection string in remote signer first, now you can scan QR code presented by Nostria, to connect with for example Amber.
If you already have your account on Amber, it's now (when next update is released) super-smooth to login.
