It's to allow AI models to interface with external systems they're not necessarily familiar with. With Shopstr's MCP implementation, an agent would be able to query the marketplace and autonomously create a Nostr identity, browse, search, and purchase products with Bitcoin and fiat.

What's the point of closed source when any competitor can copy your entire startup at the click of a button?
Going all-in on open source shows more of the confidence that you have in your brand, distribution, and maintenance/customer support ability, which is what matters in the end when the cost of building drops to zero. Sure it gets easier to copy a product, but that can help you to find issues and resolve them along with the copiers. The product itself is also becoming less and less important; brand identity and community is key.
Security vulnerabilities are also somewhat more enticing/rewarding to find if you're unaware of what's running behind the scenes imo, so being closed source could be more of liability in that case.

Interesting read. The build-up of the premise is great and I think correct, but the conclusion to go all-in on gambling (defined as activity on prediction markets, memecoins, sports betting, etc. and not generally taking risks) I'm sure is not the only option, but we'll have the face the growing sentiment that it is one way or another. What comes out of the other side of that is still to be seen.

I believe I set the event loads to not fetch listings past a certain date for performance along with deleting old cache, which is probably the issue if they're showing up in other clients. I'll look into getting that resolved.

Been feeling the itch to stop using a phone completely and have been switching all my apps and tools over to my Daylight/laptop (privacy, pocket EMFs, and focus being the primary reasons). I've found it helps to get me onto my computer and working right away if there's some urgent email or message I have to answer and it's not immediately available on my phone. Hardest things to move over are Signal/chat apps (calls being the biggest reason), Bitcoin wallets (not super easy sending unless paying solely online), and ride share apps (probably booking ahead of time or just connecting to airport WiFi when needed will be good enough). Taking off my email app was by far the biggest productivity improvement for me, and I know once I get a good system for phone and video calls going I'll feel more in control of my time.
