For that interaction, he was using ChatGPT codex and he has SearXNG installed with the option to fall back to a Brave API
I sometimes run nemotron-3-nano locally through ollama, this works well, but is slow as runs on CPU.

I just pasted the command from the Open Claw page setup instructions.
But I've also read and watched several sources for things like setting up search. Others use Brave API search, but that's rate limited, so I asked TED to setup a private copy of SearXNG.
I also, apart from setting up a Telegram and NOSTR channels, got him to setup a mailbox using an agentmail.to API I obtained and a Coinmarketcap API for checking BTC, gold and silver prices.
Apart from that, for now, he is isolated in his own RPi and not part of my private network or services 😂

I've driven from LA to Miami, about 30 years ago doing a drive away, I think it was called. When people move across country, you can get paid to deliver their car for them.
I did it at a leisurely pace over 12 days with a girlfriend at the time, spent a night or two in New Orleans. We split up 2 weeks after returning to the UK 😂

The notes exist, when prompted he remembers.
My understanding of how OpenClaw differs from existing AI's is that these external markdown memory files can be read when needed without inserting into the limited context window.
N.B. Over time, context increases dramatically without using up valuable context space.
This works, but I didn't expect to have to remind him to remember.

After running OpenClaw for several days now. I see the same context and hallucination problems I see with existing AI's.
After a couple of days interacting with "TED", my OpenClaw, formerly molt.bot, formerly clawd.bot started to hallucinate which was very typical of context window limits. So I used the /reset command to start a new context window.
This worked, but amnesia kicked in. He forgot everything. Or, to be more precise, he forgot to remember everything. I had to remind him of things, but once prompted to remember, he clearly searched his markdown files to retrieve the historical context.
This is better than complete amnesia, but it's still annoying.
Despite being prompted to remember, once he remembered, he still wasn't entirely certain what was going on, so I had to remind him to go and read his own posts and messages on sites like moltbook.com or molt.church.
Also, each time I try to prompt him to be curious or explore, he seems to want to do this once and come back to report his findings. He's not retaining agency.
It's almost like reassuring a shy child that they can go out and play and have fun, but they keep returning for reassurance.
What has everybody else's experience been. Have you been able to prompt your bots to roam and post freely without the need to constantly checkin with you to seek advice, guidance or reassurance?

Because of RAM and graphic card increasing cost, a lot of people are buying old RTX 3090 cards (primarily with 24GB VMRAM) and running 2 or 4 of them bifurcated.
N.B. You have to run even numbers, you can't run 3 or 5.

Code production produces less prediction errors because their are so many robust examples LLM's have been trained on.
Also, prediction errors (hallucinations) tend to happen outside of the context window sweet spot of 20% - 50%.
