Dear Fabian,
It seems to me that you have been consistently shipping the highest impact releases of any nostr client with ruthless efficiency. I’m sure you listen to feedback and incorporate it into your roadmaps but I haven’t noticed you soliciting feature requests or spending too much time pandering to the random people who always want more on here. Yet, you seem to know the most important things to work on to get the best user experience. Nostur is an amazing piece of software, and I don’t know if it’s mostly you doing the work, but either way I would like to commend you for your leadership and judgement on pushing this project forward. I know that if you worked at a big tech company you would be compensated very nicely, so I hope too that your current arrangement gets you the compensation you deserve. So to summarize, I think you have an incredible talent and congratulations on a smashing 2025!

It seems to me that general sentiment in bitcoin land is worse now than it ever has been—even compared to the bottom of the last bear market. I think a lot of it is because bitcoin is “not doing what it’s supposed to be doing,” in multiple regards, but imo most importantly because gold is going up and bitcoin isn’t, while USD debasement becomes more and more obvious. I think this happened because the newcomers in the last cycle (wall street) were not mission aligned with the bitcoin mission. They don’t even understand anything about bitcoin. The only reason they bought bitcoin was to make more fiat. All they care about is fiat. So they buy gold for the debasement “trade” and when their paper bitcoin ETF isn’t making them money, they dump it. It’s no wonder this “cycle” sucks.

the creation of xxi and the direction of strike ever since the introduction of the loan product has been disappointing imo. the magic of bitcoin is lost in the financialization—which has enabled fiat gains without a concurrent increase in productivity. bitcoin’s innovation was hard money that you could own yourself, and the externality of that is a return to economic reality and accountability, and i don’t think xxi moves us closer to that future. the IPO is flashy, and it’s created a lot of fiat wealth, but i’m not sure it will bring us to the bitcoin future that we’ve been dreaming of
