i have not researched this in detail but my intuition is that the largest cost to miners is electricity so by simply switching off they can essentially „hibernate“ until price recovers.
hodl miners i‘d also assume have diamond hands and margin miners sell constantly anyway.
it‘s also quite evident from the bart linechart that (leveraged) trade ($45B trading volume) dictates price movement currently which exceeds volume by miner sales ($36M mined per day) by 3 orders of magnitude.

i have a business background, finance education and have watched sailor describe his infinite money glitch in a few videos.
i do understand his logic but i also think he is omitting some of the mechanisms if (inevitably) things don’t go as hoped.

so if #MSTR pays out 10%ish in yield to everyone holding their credit instruments, how exactly are they generating cash besides issuing more debt or shares if they are committed to never selling the underlying asset?
even in a highly leveraged long bet on bitcoin at some point you want to DECREASE your interest obligations. here it seems like the interest burden is perpetually INCREASING over time and the only way you win is if bitcoin gains are long term greater than 10% p.a.
with a 12month cash runway on the interest that does not seem to be an amazingly large buffer if the bitcoin price goes flat/bearish for a 2-3 years (which is possible).
what am i missing?

i just found out that >40% of crypto holders do not hold their funds in self-custody. that's insane.
but to be honest, i cannot blame them. it's not so easy if you don't understand the tech and one mistake can cost you dearly.
i might set up a small educational site to collect all the "basic" and more advanced techniques and how to combine them.

cool - i did not know about Satlantis yet, even though i think there are better solutions conceivable than (essentially) centralising login again. but i do get your point.
the 100% most important aspect you mentioned is the "client devs continue to build for the tech savvy and not your average person".
this is SO clear if you know what to look for and having engaged in some discussions and reading posts on nostr, it is very clear that there is no will to change this.
its "edgy" and "cypherpunk" and in a weird way "bitcoin elitist" to gatekeep the technology. the community (at large) is not welcoming diversity, nuance of opinion or god forbid criticism.
i hope with time this will pass, open up and we really do get a decentralised and truly free global (internet) society.

one unadressed issue is still that most nsecs are treated as „hot“ and there is no good recovery if it is compromised.
the only answer i‘ve gotten so far is „should have kept it safer - now you need to start again“
that‘s not good enough if nostr wants to scale.

pro: great alrounder with good data quality and graphs
con: push notifications, „smart“ etc.

pro: measures through ECG so is by far the highest accuracy during workouts. integrates with apple health
con: app sucks
> oura ring
pro: best sleep tracker on the market
con: ring is in the way during workouts and scratches up. fitness tracking is not super accurate.
> whoop (no personal experience)
pro: seems to be a good alrounder if you dont like the apple watch. can be worn during workouts. great analytics
con: sleep tracking is a little inferior to oura (according to benchmark studies)
my setup:
- wear oura 24/7 for 3-4 years now excpet when i
- switch for polar beats during workouts
—> i get to see amazing long-term effects in HRV, resting heart rate, sleep etc. with oura and super precise tracking of max heart rate and zones with polar beats
