There's a few approaches that could be taken here, including hashtag based following (clumsy) and an LLM based DVM fed the heuristics you're looking for.
Nothing says a client has to display the npub of the user who posted a note.
It's not totally trivial but it's also quite doable to build what you're after.

Yea, it does seem to be the double edged sword of following hashtags. Even before the bots I've always noticed many hashtags are just full of low quality posts by people engagement farming (for whatever reason). I'm getting sort of prone to just have hashtags on a list I go through when I'm feeling patient to find people to follow in, rather than including the whole tag.
The solution is probably to create a norm of using PoW for hashtagged posts, and then filter out those without it. It's not a surefire filter as bots CAN use PoW, but it does mean if they're doing so that their ability to do other things is reduced.

Been also looking at fire carriers with things like Chaga, cedar, or dried dung, used to transport fire over distance and time by early humans. Matches are great, but keeping the fire alive is even better.
A good flint and steel never hurt either.
Those are definitely nice for a prepper situation where its days or weeks you need to get through some shit. I've been stuck with a magnesium/flint block before and what I'd have given to just have a match at that time...

It's wild that banks can tolerate money market funds but not stablecoins.
Perhaps because money market funds still lend in repo. Stablecoins make treasury collateral inert, AND lower interest rates by creating demand for bonds. That's a double whammy against banks, and liquidity.
Illiquidity, of course, being how banks die. Also how Bitcoin dips in fiat terms, but don't threaten me with sale prices...

Late GM -- GA I guess.
Got furnace guys at the house as we've been without heat on our second floor for the whole week (naturally, it happened the day the snow storm hit). Thought it was just electrical and was gonna be a quick fix, but this is getting gnarly fast. Appears to be a water flow issue through our base board radiators, which appear to be a monoflo system. And all of the valves are heavily corroded, so opening them up to service could well break them, requiring the house to be without heat for hours. And it's 24 degrees in Freedom units (~ -4 Communist units).
Anyone who thinks real estate is a better investment than bitcoin is out of their goddamn minds. And to those out there lamenting not being able to afford a home, hope this brings you some solace. Maybe call your land lord and make them come fix something, just to flex on them, and then remind them that they should buy bitcoin.

I'm less worries about futures. Perps sure, but it's too easy to call a bluff on a specific date. Unlike gold you don't incur huge storage and transport costs to take 'physical' delivery.

This is where the macro podcasts are decent, like Nik Bhatia or Jack Mallets. Bitcoin's fine, but fiat liquidity has been very tight for awhile, which it never had been before in Bitcoin's lifespan.
Most people don't know the first thing about how the Eurodollar system works. Even the Fed stuff which we pat ourselves on the back for being aware of mostly only gets you halfway through the 20th century. The Fed's centrality to the dollar is something to take with a LOT of salt. The move from LIBOR to SOFR has somewhat given them a little more pull than they had but a LOT of the collateral flows happen offshore entirely outside of the reach of any American institutions and nonetheless are very consequential for the dollar.
I always tell people to check out Perry Mehrling's Economics of Money and Banking from 2012 on Coursera to get a primer on how money works, and even that's a little dated now.

Oh you can usually find old podcasts on fountain. And then save or snip them up too. I'm still finishing up Svetski's Wake Up podcast -- about 75% done. Works better for some than others; the shelf life of news podcasts is quite short. Those are often pretty timeless, even if some of the lockdown content is a little tired.

TWiB I actually got introduced to by a coworker and was one of my more recent additions. Very good find, as Chris is quite good at keeping it efficient and not making it too much about his own stance.
I've been enjoying some of the drops that are just audiobooks or classes too -- Bitcoin Infinity with Knut's books, and The Bitcoin Standard podcast with Saif dropping his Principles of Economics class lectures free. Admittedly both are more about economics than Bitcoin's technicals, but as someone who doesn't need the amount of naps I get when I try to read Mises directly I'll take it.

But yea if it's really something I'm taking time to chew on I'll slow it down. Or, often enough, take what I heard and throw it into AI to dive deeper. I had Gemini basically make Tom Luongo and Simon Dixon have a debate that I directed the other day after their back to back appearances on Simply Bitcoin which helped get my head around what Tom meant when he called Simon a London asset.
It's just important to remember that podcasts are more like a dashboard, and not a replacement for real research. They put things on your radar, but at least most of them don't go much below the surface. And as anyone who's used radar knows, MOST of your radar is pretty ho-hum. But you continue to use it because when it puts that one blip in front of you, it can change everything.
I've done the same thing with RSS for years for news, just skimming hundreds of headlines a day. Ir's how I found Bitcoin when Slashdot covered it in 2011. Something I picked up after reading Transmetropolitan. The big thing to remember is to leave enough time for the actual deep dives. Rather than more surface scanning. When I find myself not getting to my reading list is when I start looking for podcasts to cull or at least get more selective about listening to.

It does seem a bit more sanitized now. And it's hard to trust someone when they pause to tell you about how great Trezor or Bitkey is.
I do still hear some interesting enough updates from RHR, and Bitcoin Optech keeps things focused. And I gotta hand it to @nprofile…xnyn for things like Cathedral and the general focus on relating Bitcoin's incentives with agricultural innovation and general best practices. If nothing else it's a nice break from some of the news that gets to be a grind.
I came into bitcoin podcasts from macro and geopolitical podcasts, and that's still the area they're often more interesting in. For information about Bitcoin itself, aside from when there really is news, you're better off with a book or a conversation. Get to a Bitdevs!
As for the podcasts, I'm not dropping them, but it's some signal in a high noise environment very dependent upon who the guests are. 1.75x listening while working or otherwise doing things is enough so that I can catch if something of interest actually comes on.

I did work with someone very briefly who was around 40 or so and a grandma though. As someone whose great grandmother died at 99 when I was 4 or 5 I can't fathom how the family dynamic works when you have great grandparents who may be below retirement age.
Let alone the possibility of living great great grandparents.
Our modern career trajectories do some pretty crazy things to family formation, and when younger it always struck me that having kids was this huge lifelong commitment. And it is to an extent, but not one of straight up custodianship. At least if they're healthy.
I wonder how many debaucherous trends are rooted in the lack of parenting lessons on responsibility and sacrifice, as well as time and resource management, at a younger age.
I suppose it's no surprise most behind the industrial revolution were Malthusians...
Anyway, be proud of your kid for getting his attention in positive ways. It's even less fun when they insist on finding other ways of getting it.

Being able to use it with a seedsigner is interesting enough, and using BIP-85 does segregate it from your bitcoin keys, so it's really not an awful idea. 12 words to back up your wealth and your identity is convenient if you really need to bring it all in your head.
It is, of course, a single point of failure though. So pros and cons. I think I've heard mention of Nostr multisig though, which could help address that the same way we address it with Bitcoin.
Key rotation though would be the real key breakthrough. Not sure how to do that though without changing how we use npubs as identifiers. Seems like it'd require a collision, and if we could cause a collision we'd have a much bigger problem.

Gemini seems to suggest there is a way to do this conversion actually, which is making sense as both keypairs use secp256k1.
Basically you remove the version byte and checksum, which should leave you with a 32 byte raw hex key to use as an nsec.
It also tells me there's online tools to do this but of course...they're online...
Converting from a compressed pubkey looks to just involve dropping the prefix byte.
I'm even seeing that there's tools for seedsigner to derive this automatically.

There's at the very least length mismatches. Npub's are 32 bytes; BIP-85 will give you an xpriv which you can extract a 33 byte key from.
I mean, maybe you could just truncate the string and treat it as an nsec and derive an npub from it, but there's no way to get from the xpub to the npub, so I'm not sure what the benefit would be aside from it being 'already backed up' with your Bitcoin backup. Just likely bad entropy.

I think the way to truly them the tide of mass immigration, the answer isn't to round people up, as that is a bit like stopping the flow of water by putting your hand over the faucet.

As for drugs, these are indeed victimless crimes. Laws around them basically amount to pre-crime, based on the heuristic that people who use drugs go on to commit crimes, and therefore, drugs are banned.
Statistically it's commonly accurate enough, but it's lazy enforcement I can't get behind. Especially since statistical targeting before a crime is committed is not in any way justified.

Suggesting that trespassing, which border crossing amounts to, is a victimless crime suggests that property rights being violated have no victim. Sort of a hard position to hold unless you're a leftist anarchist.
Would it be better if the property were held by individuals and private institutions rather than the state? Sure. Is it still held by someone though? Yes.
It's true things get messy when analyzing the real world given that we don't live in Ancapistan. But the idea that political enforcement of relatively open border policy is not an aggressive act, against which retaliation and restitution is justified (in appropriate measure) is not one I can see a good argument for.
Specifics of ICE's behavior being a separate matter, and indeed, there's room to rein in some bad actors as of late, as well as improve policy and training.
Where this gets hard, though, is that the aggressor, here, is not the group that is being targeted. The ones targeted, in large part, are actually perhaps better thought of as the munition being fired at us by globalist aggressors who are themselves not in ICE's crosshairs. So it's hardly surprising there's a lot of sympathy for them.
I've been exploring looking at it a bit from a historical lens of the English unification, wherein Danes, who arguably were spurred into their invasion by the aggression of Charlemagne's restriction of trade routes. By all rights the native population would not have been wrong to evict the Danish incursion (though, doing so entirely likely wouldn't have been possible despite them putting up a very good fight). This seems to be an analogous situation to what we have, though obviously not identical. That said, there's a reason Alfred the Great had his namesake. The sort of threading of the needle it'd take to pull this off in an appropriate manner is not trivial. But it does seem that given the entanglement we find ourselves here, looking to books on anarchist theory are not quite as useful as historic events, as they simply don't adequately address what happens when the two parties in conflict are not the aggressor, even when there has been an act of aggression.
It's not a black and white issue, and I do think that far too many are trying to make it out to be one.

I'd be careful about "majority of nostr" as we do tend to get pretty silo'ed, especially without an algorithm to encourage us to constantly see information we disagree with to incite rage to drum up engagement and adviews.
I see a good amount of both angles based on my follows. If you've got a more complete way to do analytics on nostr though, I'd love to know your methodology.

I'm actually saddened by the fact that my home is so well insulated now after we added in another foot of it in the attic and got some strips around the doors. I have considered opening things up a bit, because sitting by the fire when you can't even tell how cold it is outside just doesn't hit the same.
Sitting by a fire in a home that already has less oxygen probably makes that CO^2 level even higher. I gotta get one of these it'd seem.

Not that I honestly think none should have been welcomed for what it's worth. Jews held leadership positions in Ottoman Palestine, and many of Europe's Jews had to frankly be pushed to go as they themselves were more at home in Europe after many centuries.
Nah, the crime of Israel is one perpetrated by western imperial globalist powers -- Britain more than anyone. But piled on by France, Russia, and Germany, among others, as a poison pill to prevent the resurgence of an Ottoman adversary, and to dump the Jews they didn't want in their own lands.
Just as with the Jewish bankers though, some among the Jewish population, having been downtrodden for centuries, jumped at the chance to raise their status by being deputized by these powers.
We can talk about their presence in Europe as outsiders as well -- pushed by the Romans. As usual, the imperial forces stirred up the conflict in their arrogance.
The peoples ICE is rounding up aren't the real enemy attacking America, and I get the sympathy. They are, rather, the munitions being foisted upon us by the machinery of globalist entities. Including those who have sought to undermine American sovereignty from our inception. Appropriating their homelands, and making refugees of them.
There may be room here for someone to look back at Alfred and recognize that rather than fight the invaders, there may be room to integrate them. But that wasn't done by laying down for open borders when he did it with the Danes, and it's certainly not the tact we hear proposed by the left and their welfare state. And it's not something I see an easy path to. Alfred was called Great, it would seem, not without good reason.
